Firstly I really wanted you to compare the Qur'an with a normal book which u read daily obviously whenever you read a chapter from it you never just go on the mid of that chapter and if u go u will be confused.. similarly the verse 5 about which u told is the part of surah 9 so to understand that you need to read the whole surah or may be more then that.. Secondly ( before I go on the explanation) I want to tell you as many other books Qur'an is a deep book and to study and understand that you must have great knowledge of Arabic and islamic history because u can't understand a verse by just reading it's translation to understand it u may have to read the whole surah or sometimes the whole chapter or may be sometime the whole Qur'an... In Qur'an it may be possible that the thing u read in the starting n it's explanation was given some verse or may be chapters later . Now I want to tell u that the Qur'an was never comes (nazil) Fully at a time it comes in parts ( as per the condition and situation of Mohammad (saw) and his followers.. Now here starts the explaination of the verse... So This verse was revealed(comes to) unto Prophet PBUH while the Islamic followers were engaged in the Battle of Tabuk. The battle was fought as a retaliation against the buildup attack on the city of Madinah by Byzantine Empire in the year 629. This battle was a really a Disasterous battles to Muslim so god asked Muslims not to quit and fight with them with whole power ( it's similar to the condition when our government give strength to the soldiers to fight and not to fear) . verse 5 which says "Kill the Mushriks wherever you find them”, during a battle to boost the morale of the Muslim soldiers. What the Qur’an is telling Muslim soldiers is, don’t be afraid during battle; wherever you find the enemies kill them".Many people like you after reading this verse do not read more or do not read the 6 verse of the same surah which is the continuation of verse 5 and says"“If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge.” I hope it is cleared now . Thanks and whenever you read anything try to go deep into it because everyone spreads the hates and you my friend try to be a little different 😇✨
