Thanks for the great video, I had the issues of the motor running on and this video helped me change the membrane. I also changed the micro switch and capacitor at the same time, just so I wouldn't have to open it up again! I'm in the UK and my diy skills are very basic and I still managed this! All the parts cost £40, the Saniflo engineer wanted £260 to do the job! My advice if you have to open it up and it's over 5 years old, it makes sense to change the membrane, micro switch and capacitor at the same time. Apart from the motor, those are the parts that wear out the most.

Engineer here, for rubber gaskets remember to use a lubricant the clearly says its safe for rubber, like a silicone lube or plumbers paste. Otherwise something like regular wd40 or regular oils may deteriorate the rubber over time and cause it to leak or break.

You’ve just saved me £400!! I’d all but given up trying to fix our unit after shelling out nearly £100 on new parts including the membrane but it was really reluctant to empty the water. Long story short, after watching this video, realised I’d made the error you mentioned of fitting the clip into the recess rather than over the ridge of the membrane/switch unit (plus think I had clip upside down which again you made clear). Refitted and all works a dream now. Hopefully a good few years before any more issues!! Thanks again, great video, really useful, some close ups of fitting, like the membrane clips, would have been useful but hey, you pointed me exactly where I needed to go!

Very useful video. We attempted to repair our non-running Saniflo (1st gen) by replacing just the membrane. It worked for about 3 days, and stopped. I should have viewed this video before, as I did not install the clip properly (I placed it in the groove, while it should have been installed over the ridge). As well, I removed the switch unit this time. Surprise, surprise, oil in the bottom. I noticed the capacitor is somewhat cracked, so I assume the capacitor oil has leaked out. We will order a new capacitor and a new micro switch..... and this time install the membrane and clip properly. BTW, anybody else witness a cracked capacitor / oil leak on their unit?

My pump was always running so i called saniflow and they suggested add some white vingar. So i added a half gallon of white vingar and half gallon of hot water to the pump chamber. Poured it throught the vent tube After i let it sit 5 hrs i plugged it in and kept on flushing it than the pump shut off. Its working like new now. I was told to do that every 6months.

Greetings, thank you for this great informative video. My grandson who is 16 years old and I worked on cleaning out the passing area by the blades. We found parts of baby wipes he had my mistake put inside the toilet now is all cleaned out but it won’t go on when we flush the toilet or discharge the tub water to empty; is connected to both and to the sink. It goes on when it wants, stays on for long periods of time for no reason and when I need it to work it doesn’t. To replace it will cost me $1,000 locally and I think with your help I may be able to fix it. What do you think I should do next, please advise and thanks! Blessings

Hello, My saniplus is not working. Doesn't seem to want to turn on. The size of it feel warm and it sounds empty.. I had water back up into my shower. Is this being caused by the membrane not turning working? Thought of open up this 20-year-old Saniflo is creeping me out.The cost of having a plumber come is not comfy..

Hi thanks for your video very helpful, I just replaced capacitor and put all back in, now pump won't stop in any case, membrane is ok, it just stop only if I push air in from the plug hole, any ideas on what could be wrong ?

We have a 14-year-old saniplus. It has a weak flush. It takes the water from the shower and the bathroom sink just fine but it takes about six or seven flushes to get waste away. We rebuilt the capacitor and membrane switch about seven years ago. Any troubleshooting ideas? thank you for the excellent video.

Hi - great video, started following steps, but then when I got to capacitor, it appears to be wired directly to motor, i.e. the wires run thru the little conduit between the pump housing and the electrical component housing/pressure chamber and there is no extra wire to allow pulling out the capacitor. This leads me to believe i need to get the pump housing open? I believe the impeller needs to come off the bottom to do this. This is a15 yr old Sanibest. Any suggestions?

Most likely the capacitor. When the unit is buzzing try tapping the blade with a screwdriver, it should start up when you tap it. If so, likely the capacitor.

good morning I recently replaced membrane everything worked fine. now only way pump will turn on is if I flush toilet. running water from sink / shower just backs up in shower drain. when i flush toilet and pump turns on water recedes in shower. seems like water from shower inlet not enough force to kick on switch ?

Hello do you suggest to seal the membrane with silicone? It happened that just after I substitute the membrane the electricity shorts. I believe water leaked into it. Thanks

No no there is no silicone from the factory and if you have a nice new part that hasn’t been distorted or smashed in a warehouse somewhere then it seals fine. Your leak is elsewhere

My unit is humming, but the motor is not coming on. I've got it apart - the impellor blades are turning OK. I'm guessing it might be the capacitor? What do you think?

If you get it to the point where it's humming try to tap the blade with a screwdriver and see if it takes off if it does start up then it is likely the capacitor. Just be careful of your fingers

Why is there small hole on top? When i tried to use a plunger, the water comes out of there. Guess it's not meant to be done this way

I'm in the UK but you had a great video so I thought I'd ask a question - I had a Sanipack pro installed for a few years and it started to run every 90 seconds for 3 seconds so we switched it off and haven't used it for a few years. I took it apart to check the membrane and get the microswitch code, I've reassembled everything but when the microswitch is activated now it trips the mains power in the house. There's been no water in the unit since it was removed and cleaned. I've taken it apart again and the pressure chamber but I cannot see any faults in the wiring at all. Do you have any solutions to what maybe the problem?

Typically tripping the breaker points to water in the motor or the pressure chamber. Have you tried it on a different outlet just to rule out a bad breaker? You may want to talk with tech support in the UK, www.saniflo.co.uk/

Question - how to you connect the clip on the new membrane when you replace it? I can't seem to get the new clip on - it's about a half an inch short of connecting. Is there a special technique to get the tab in? I've tried pliers to close the gap, but there isn't much to grab on to. Any advice is appreciated.

I usually lubricate it with a handsoap so the clip slides easier get them as close as you can then use pliars perpendicular to the clip

What size of capacitor does it use? same 120v saniplus unit maybe 8years old, works fine with liquids but anything more and the unit just hums. Would rather only take it apart once.. thanks!

Hey Mark, I have a saniflo Saniaccess 3. When I plug it in, it trips the GFCI after a few seconds (without turning the pump on). Any idea what a typical cause would be for that? Thanks!

Try it on a different plug to be sure the gfi is ok. If it still trips the breaker then it is likely water in the pressure chamber, water in the motor itself or something jammed in the blade or impeller.

I was having a real hard time getting the lid back on the tank. Then I realized the lid seal can be removed and placed on top of the tank first, which made it easier to get the top of the tank deep in the grove in the seal. I am 73 years young and still did not have the strength to get the lid on, so I used four large quick clamps slowly squeezing each one a little at a time until everything clicked in. The vedio was very helpful. You saved me 12 bucks + shipping for your tip about carefully removing the plastic clamp that holds the membrane in place.

Humming is power getting to motor but something is either caught in the motor not letting it run or motor is bad. Bad bad motor

the toilet is what should refill with water. when. you flush the toilet, the water would enter the saniplus unit, trip the membrane, and then pump. are you sure someone didn't turn off the supply valve?
