Today I saw another video where interviewer took the interview of Pakistan side "Muslim" Kashmiri Pandits. I was surprised. Only then I realized their fore-fathers were Hindu Pandits, now for last 2-3 generations they were converted. They still use the surname Pandit but has Muslim name. When asked why this conversion they avoided the question, repeatedly telling they are living happily, devout Muslims and their hearts belong to Pakistan. Then asked what happened to other Hindu Pandits & Sikhs present there? They left for India. When asked why? Again they ignored that question. The interviewer is bold enough to ask this question as he is from Lahore, came there to understand Azad Kashmir. What I see is that neither side people are happy. Pakistan side mostly they are crying for price escalation, no majduri, no proper school, colleges and hospitals. On Indian side these basic facilities are there. So there demand is something else.

The majority community in kashmir is powerless. Kashmir today is directly ruled by central government through Governor and not by elected representative(Chief Minister). Calling Kashmiri muslim majority is Irony. A majority that is so powerless it cannot even mourn its leaders. A majority that can move about in its own land only at the mercy of security forces. A majority silenced by the Indian nationalist narrative. A majority is usually politically, socially and culturally powerful, more powerful than minorities. Are Muslims in Kashmir in such a position? Even the freedom of their leaders is determined by security forces. More often than not, they need the permission of security forces to move or meet their own people.
