There are some raags, which make you feel sad, disturbed or uneasy. If I want to listen to such raags, I always choose the first recording to be Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar's. His voice is so soothing that it naturally initiates a sense of calm. I am a very sensitive person and could never listen to a raag like Marwa without feeling agitated. I heard Panditji's Marwa the first time in his concert 2 years back, and it had such a profound effect on me. Till date, I can listen to Marwa only in his voice. Coming back to Shivranjani, it is another one which produces a feeling of melancholy, but in this rendition, I can feel melancholy although from afar, behind the curtain of calmness. Such is a magic of his singing. I am a lifelong fan.
