Garp appearing earlier than in anime actually makes sense because he cares for Luffy so he wants to stop him from being a pirate asap compared in anime where he doesn't care abt Luffy until the post enies lobby arc.

I said in the grand scheme not saying it was completely pointless. I think they did it good enough with the time frame and episodes. Like out of all the East Blue villains Don Krieg seems like the one you could've sacrificed. Kuro second only because I felt like he's more necessary to Usopps character then Kreig is to Sanji really Gin was more iconic for Sanji in that arc I'd argue it sucked more that Gin wasn't as big a role than Luffy fighting Kreig.

In film/tv the Garp and Koby story would be considered the B plot, to Luffy's A plot. Oda basically does B plot in between arcs. One of the reasons why there is so much B plot is because it's cheaper to film, mostly 1 set, and no special fx. Most likely the B plot in season 2 will be Smoker.

A lot of people that watch the anime and opted out of reading the manga forget or they don't know just how much of the back story Coby had with Garp's training period. The back story of Coby's training in this live actions is suppose to be 30/40% just as much screen time as Luffy's adventures and gathering up his crew mates. The only true switch up is Coby and Luffy meeting constantly throughout this current series.

my first watch of the series i didn't like arlong on my 2nd watch i actually really enjoyed the character his dialog his drive is extreme but you get it especially being black you feel where hes coming from on a different level lol Zoro and Luffys dynamic is fire i wish they gave ussop more and nami is best character for me you see her character development from ep 1 til now she actually struggles with wanting to be with luffy to being scared to leave arlong and Zoro is perfect also my first watch i didnt care about sanji but 2nd time i was like hes actually fire

Yeah, so a lot of stuff in the anime is different. The show adapts more stuff from the manga instead of the anime, like eating his leg. They wanted to make the anime more "kid friendly" so they censored or changed stuff like that.
