The best thing about this song are the lyrics, subtle and ironic, and slightly bitter. These guys are great songwriters.

this song is everything but not happy... it is about a man that wants to escape from the daily routine and expectations imposed by the society. Someone who prefers the noise of crowded subways to the sound of the sea (the sea is a symbolism of one's interiority). He finds refuge in work to avoid facing his thoughts. No place in the world offers this man the peace and serenity he pursues, so in the end he decides to dive into the immensity of the sea to free himself from his fears and uncertainties. Hence the final splash. It is not clear if it's just a dive or a suicide.
