KR actually just stays when you heal, meaning you effectively have a lower max HP since the KR will remain and drain you by however much KR you have left.

Plus there were a LOT of times Kyle pretty much went with 30 hp and basically ALL of it was going to die by KR, and despite the fact it was ticking down, it was still _VERY USABLE_ hp, just not going to last. As such, if you heal EARLY and it's not a full heal, the draining purple HP can act as a buffer, decreasing future KR (Since KR is maxed at 40 at one time) for a short bit, and allowing you to get hit a few more extra times, at least while it drains.
