Have been through a lot of distortion pedals, but this one... Never been so happy about my tone - couldn't live without it to be honest! That super gnarly, gritty tone just sits so well with sludge and hardcore - loving it to bits!

Pardon my ignorance regarding DI’s, but let’s say you had one of these on your pedalboard and it was in the middle of your signal chain. Would the sound engineer be receiving the signal from your entire pedalboard, or only the signal from the sansamp and the pedals that come before it?

my friend gave me one of these today for helping her move. Awesome. To be honest, I've had other big brand pre/di pedals, but my favorite is a caline bass preamp di for $30 (Australia) that just sound fn killer, and it takes 3 seconds to dial in the right tone. I have a feeling I'll actually be using the caline over the sansamp; but we'll see; she's in my band after all hehe. A lot of those small stencil manufacturers have been doing amazing things for a while now though. Sometimes, improving dramatically over their predecessors by leaps and bounds, eg the hotone acoustic simulator; my god. Yes, maybe all these are made in Chinese factories. But, so are some big name companies, let's leave Behringer out of this, which I won't even bother with. But Behringer owns and manufactures TC Electronic, Midas, Turbosound and Klark Teknik? Chinese factories can make whatever you ask for, well. Even fenders' biggest selling line (not squire; fender), the fender player, is now is made in China, and that's the best guitar I've ever owned. Anyway, look forward to comparing these 2 preamps.

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 To MY ears, it has a thickness to the tones, that NONE of the DarkGlass have, and it has a wet/dry signal that can be dialed in perfectly - it can still be used in many genres with success - its not ALL metal. The bottom end is tight and thick, the top end is also solid without a glassy tone. The Sansamp is a great product, but the size is a bit cumbersome with todays pedals. The Amptweaker Bass Tightdrive JR, is small and packs a punch none of these others have, IMO.

At min 1:12 you mention the Parallel Output and that there is "something very, very cool" you can do with it, and you will show us later ... but you never did in this video ?!?! Besides that, The Bass Dirver DI is a great pedal that I had with me for almost 20 years. I replaced it when I got the Bass Fly Rig that had everything including a tuner in one unit. Today I would prefer to get V2 of the Bass Driver because there you have the mid control.

If this Sansamp is the only thing between your bass and the mixing console, the inability to "sweep" the mids would put you in a definite disadvantage.. Otherwise it sounds great. It's just that, from one venue to another, no two rooms are going to respond to low frequencies in the same manner. Seems that there is always that one low-mid frequency that comes across louder than the rest. An accurate mid-sweep control can help one identify this frequency so that you can manage, or dial-in, the proper EQ curve for that venue. The Eden wtdi has a semi-parametric EQ with an Enhance/Freq. sweep function and a mid-shift on/off switch to set the point of reference on your midrange control. 18v of headroom too. I do enjoy using mine, it's a well thought out design with lots of options. But, like I said, you cannot deny the functionality and quality of a Sansamp.. I'm only wanting to give you something else to try if you want. Most bassists I have talked with that like the Sansamp, don't care to change what they use. Which is understandable....

I recently got the V2, and aside from the distorted full gain sound I do not like it at all, even with a bright and trebly tone it always muffles the signal a little. Even worse when used as a preamp, I have no idea how/why so many pros claim to use these, maybe it’s a money laundering scheme. Or perhaps I just don’t know what I’m doing, but after a couple weeks of using I can’t get a really good sound

OnlineBass Guitar well I don’t agree with your analogy about a P bass. A 60’s P bass is a very expensive, very rare and special instrument. People don’t just decide to go out and get one, and if they are looking for a P bass I’d expect them to come across a lot of more modern P basses before that. Still, I take your point, but I feel that this is more a descriptive video, as you don’t actually let us here what the SansAmp tone is, which I would have thought is its main selling point of the BDDI. Anyway, good luck with the channel.

I've been using my Sansamp since the late 90's. It has seen countless shows, recordings, drops, spills and been in ridiculous temperature extremes. The only issue I had was that after 2 decades, the footswitch was starting to fail. Tech 21 fixed it and shipped it back fast and cheap. Best pedal I've ever owned.
