SANSKIRITI (Reality Behind Religion) /Documentary on Communal Harmony/1992/Indian Imprints Channel

Produced by Krishnaswamy associates (p) Ltd in 1992 Maintaining his tradition of making unsponsored films as a mode of self expression, Dr. S. Krishnaswamy made this inspirational film with messages from major Indian Religious leaders to promote communal harmony. Those interviewed include H H Dalai Lama, Rev. Mother Teresa, Swami Ranganatananda, Acharya Tulsi, Dasturji, Cardinal Simon Ignatius Pimenta, Mohd. Ayub, and Justice M. Hidayatullah, Former Vice President of India. The film starts with a cartoon-like folk tale of how religion can go astray under the influence of the devil. The filmmaker screened this 'opening' to most of the leaders he interviewed and made them react to the rather provocative story. The central idea of the film is to emphasize that God is universal and that different religions are merely paths to reach him. The film ridicules 'competitive' religion. Produced by Dr. Mohana Krishnaswamy and directed by Dr. S. Krishnaswamy, this 60 minutes' film was made in 1992 with the cooperation of Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
