Thank you for sharing your photos. I visited several times in the early ‘90s and there has been much restoration accomplished since then. It was lovely to revisit one of my favorite palaces.

Frederick II died in Sans Souci in 1786. I saw his tomb when I visited. You show a shot of an armchair and a desk...I was wondering if it was this armchair he died in. The Palace was called his little wine house (!!...his idea of ‘little’ is baffling by today’s standard!) and was only supposed to last as long as he lived...which is why in his time it wasn’t repaired....luckily for us it survived. I found it enchanting when I visited and felt a deep sense of loss at his tomb as he couldn’t be with us to see his palace after all the turmoil that Prussia and Germany have seen since his passing all those years ago...

Thank you for such a detailed response. I believe you are correct about the armchair. I've seen photos on internet searches where others have identified the chair as being the one he passed away in. Thanks again.
