Thank you very much for your comment. I agree that St. Nicholas's tomb is indeed in what is now modern-day Turkey, specifically in the city of Demre. However, the bones of St. Nicholas were moved to Bari, Italy, in the 11th century during the Crusades. However, St. Nicholas was born in the 4th century in the city of Myra, which was part of the Roman Empire and later the Byzantine Empire. He was Greek by heritage and lived long before the arrival of the Turks to the region, which only began in the 11th century. So while the tomb is in Turkey today, St. Nicholas himself was most likely Greek. Happy New Year to you!
