i lived about a half block north from that location when you are facing east( lincoln and grove) , 2nd floor and it was a killer pad and it was big and cheap and i rented from my boss. closest neighbor was 1/2 a block away . perfect for jammin my stereo system, from 2011 to 2014. before it turned into a quiet zone. i've suffered from insomnia all my life and i had leaned on beer every night after work for 20 years to knock my ass out. these trains caused me to drink even more in hopes of getting a few hours sleep before work, sometimes i slept, sometimes i didn't. those horn were ridiculous all day but at night... all night every night. 2,3,4 an hour every hour laying on that horn pretty much all the way thru town.i could crank the tunes and that would drown out the trains but at full volume how am i going to sleep? i seriously started to lose it and had to quit my job and move away. i quit drinking shortly thereafter so maybe something good came out of it but damn it was a miserable place to try to sleep. shortly after that they made it a quiet zone. i don't know why it took over 100 years to do it..everybody tried to tell me i'd get used to it...nope, never did.

Santa Fe had some great horns on their locomotives.
