As a fellow bibliophile, thank you for turning me on to that book shop...wow. I'm home sick today but my head is spinning in a good way from all the awesomeness I saw in the brief shots included here. I just saw my favorite book in the world, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, in a slipcase I never ever knew existed for it...like....whoa...lol Extra points for that adorable vintage Professor Calculus? figure reading in a chair omg. 🥰

It's so appropriate that, in front of a filming location for Pee Wee's Big Adventure, is a large brontosaurus shaped shrub, that reminds me so much of the Cabazon dinosaurs. EDIT: Bibibop would fit in well in a lot of malls in OC. I could even see it in Downtown Disney.

My Dad would have been in Absolute Heaven, inside that book store, he's passed away now, and was a construction worker by trade, but had always held a keen interest in books and the printed word, also always made sure we as kids had access to true, good, high-quality, children's reading material within our home,in fact one of The very 1st books he made sure we had on hand, was a complete collection of A. A. Milne's Winnie-The-Pohh stories, with the authentic, E. H. Shepherd illustrations, so yes, I grew up believing that Eeyore, was, and Should in fact be Grey in color, as per the Original pictures, Not Blue as the Disney books & cartoons would later go on to depict him. My Dad for a while even tried to create a side business from home of buying, selling, and collecting for himself, old, rare, and 1st Edition books, as well as specializing in researching, locating and providing such books for people to add to their own book collections, and as it stands even today, I currently have deemed 2 cartoon characters as my all-time favorites, and those would be Snoopy, from the Charlie Brown/Peanuts Universe, and Eeyore from the Pooh Universe, Snoopy because he reminded me A Lot of my Dad's personality, ironically enough, and Eeyore, I think because of that we early exposure that My Dad made sure I had regular access to. Toward the end of My Dad's life after his body got too old to let him swing a hammer anymore, he moved into NYC with my Step-Mother, and set himself up a nice little business as a street corner book-seller, usually along Broadway somewhere near 110th Street, or in or near Riverside Park, they lived in a co-op apartment in a building on 111th Street between Broadway & Riverside Drive, near Columbia University.

Only the shopping mall at the southern end of the Third Street Promenade, then called Santa Monica Place, had been designed by collaboration between Frank Gehry and his former employer, Victor Gruen. The rest of the Third Street Promenade was designed by The ROMA Design Group, a San Francisco-based interdisciplinary firm of architects, landscape architects, and urban planners, redesigned the area in 1990.

That just fry's me that fake RT66 end at the pier gets so much attention. I started at the real start / stop corner at Mel's Drive In.
@justinscarred12 күн бұрын
I get it to a degree, but for most people I think it's Because it's a better start/Stop than the middle of Downtown LA or Mels. When I get to Chicago I always wanna wander down and see the lake, same thing in LA, most people want that Primo photo op. The Grand Canyon / Meteor Crater aren't on Route 66 either but they've been part of the experience for most people. Same with the St Louis Arch or any other kind of main attraction, I think the pier is as close to a "Main attraction" as you get in Santa Monica these days. If it makes any difference the people IN the booth there tell every visitor where the original terminuses are, and explain the history of the photo op sign at the pier

Sadly, the entire Woolworth's store chain, has since gone out of business. The one in New York, which is the one I'm most familiar with, because I'm originally from New Jersey,and actually was born on Staten Island, New York, some 60 years ago now.

I've noticed that you generally record your videos in the morning and in my opinion that is a mistake. Places generally look much better in the afternoon or close to the sunrise because of the warm light . That blue light in the morning makes them look so cold, boring and plain.
