As a newcomer i merely see a clean winner of this one and couldn't believe he lost it. Exactly, very obvious. Her move is following the flow and beat and her foot work is way much better. The boy is good on body control but the step is not that impressive. If this is a hip hop game he will win. However this is house.

Because House is not just flashy moves and beat kills, although his rounds are impressive I think Toyin has better fundamentals, better groove and overall a vibe that the judges decided was better.

I thought that Toyin ,has more musicality and Santa had a nice flow ,Toyin had expert footwork complexity, on beat, showing a variety of influences.In round two ,Toyin gave a metaphorical nod to ritual and the influence of Capoeira ,to show Santa that she understood his capoeira influences and foundations. These are the reasons that Toyin won.Santa brought a lot of flow and originality and response to the battle,was dope.

This is my first time seeing Santa. And right off the back, I knew he played Capoeria. The thing about house dance. Is you don't want to spam too many acrobatics. You want to always have a good flow and energy the whole time. In a overall sense, I thought Santa won too. But I would have gave it to Toyin because she have way more experience. And when somebody who is dancing house. Need to spam a lot acrobatic movement. It show that they're running out of footwork work. That how it looks like to me. I still think he won.

I disagree. I felt like Santa had a good balance of footwork, acrobatics, upper body "speaking", and overall creativity - when considering both sets combined (his first set was a bit acrobatic heavy, but he probably wouldn't have done that in a single set battle). I agree with you though, that the acrobatic spam usually is done by dancers who have run out of ideas for that round and want some cheers.

Just my opinion, Althought Santo's first round was a bit more of his personality than toyins groove easy going feel, in the second round toy had a way stronger technical base than Santos first personality round and the judges had to see it on a all around prospective and gave the win to toy for that reason. Just my view on that

I think it's just due to the fact that she (toyin) has a great rep. both dancers did their things to the songs the best way they knew how to. But in terms of technical foundation, santa isn't a sweet at all. Dude showed his personality through his movements, had a decent amount of house vocabulary and effortlessly created a sensation as he was dancing. I honestly think it was due to her reputation that she passed this round. Her second round battle, when she battled Kwame, was clearly an L for her but the judges gave it to her anyway. Sometimes you can't quantify these things. I think they should've went another round, she wasn't to the clear winner from this bout.

People are saying that Santa is the winner but I disagree. He’s talented, no doubt but Toyin has better style and musicality. House dance isn’t just about doing moves, but it’s also about how your body looks when executing. There’s a coolness factor that helps your general effect. Some dancers kinda jump and flop their bodies around and it lacks “pizazz” for lack of a better word. Toyin has that killer instinct in battles, and her movements look cool. Not juvenile. Santa would benefit from paying more attention to what he’s doing with his upper body and arms while doing footwork. They have to move well, and stylishly, too, not just the feet.

@@skhizein0000 I've seen Toyin take out plenty of OGs in these competitions over the years. There's merit in what you're saying, though. That there's a respect for the OGs, but with the experience the OGs have, you'll note a marked difference in their musicality in comparison to the newer dancers who seems to just be executing "moves" in succession without fully embodying the music they're hearing. Toyin gets that musicality, and it shows in her movements.
