This is the best show I've ever seen. Great paranoia fiction, extremely intelligent, even more than The X-Files.

Sound effect of glass breaking is when something sounds familiar to Tom and he remembers a bit more.

This show was great! Bruce Greenwood is a heck of an actor and was perfect for this role. He must have channeled some emotions to pull off the believable acting toward his "father" in this episode.

Noticed every episode somebody breaks a glass. Or you hear glass breaking in the background.
@opoxious1592 Жыл бұрын
Yes indeed!! You are the very first one who also noticed this! It's everytime when you hear a glass shatter, it's that very short moment of shock. Is it "them" who crash into the building to get him? It's that very short moment if not knowing if he is going to be chased or not. Do you know what also adds to the suspicion of everybody Tom meets? When that perons he first meets lights up a sigar. That immediately raises a red flag,............or does it?

I just want everyone to be aware that the dude with the gray hair and the suit who comes in at 31:18 is played by the underrated but insanely talented Joe Carberry, known for originating the role of Charlie "Longshoe" Murphy in the play and later movie "Short Eyes" by the late Miguel Pinero. That whole movie is on KZbin and while it is NOT for the faint of heart, and has some very disturbing scenes, the acting and dialog is OFF THE CHARTS insanely good, and all the performances - and the soundtrack by Curtis Mayfield - will blow your mind.

I think this is Toms real dad , but around the time his life was erased his dad had a memory implant that makes him act to the script of the organisation.

John isn't Tom's father. I think that's pretty well established by the episode, and the ending confirms it. John really looks nothing like the man in the picture, like not even close. And Tom's real dad would have held that picture close to him, since it was all he had left of his son. He wouldn't have just lost it somewhere behind the couch and not bothered to look for it. Also, I think it's possible that the "dream sequence" with the shotgun might not have been a dream sequence at all, despite what Tom thinks. Just a thought.
@geofreyr6 жыл бұрын
disagree, there's a resemblance, but I don't think that's the intent, showing the photo obviously intends to establish the fact that he really was his Father.
@mvanderstank956 жыл бұрын
The show's creator Larry Hertzog confirms in the audio commentary that Jonathon is Tom's real father.
@frankieg93876 жыл бұрын
If we are to go along with the ending of the series, then “Tom” is a fictional persona created by “them”, so how would this “father” recognise Tom when Tom and all his memories are a fabrication created by them. Therefore his father is playing up to the tampered memory implanted into “Tom” by Them. The photo most likely got mislaid by Them after a clear out of all Tom’s real father’s belongings. We can only speculate therefore what “Tom’s” real father did, maybe he was also a government agent whose memories got tampered with. Hertzog most likely overlooked that as even he admitted that too many people were getting involved in the writing by the end of the series, and nobody really knew what was happening.

Kinda bonkers, Tom shouldn't exist at all he's just some FBI agent they implanted. Actually whats weird is when they read the file in VR, it has some info about being 3rd generation, etc. Anyways, someone explained that it was a few organizations after him, 1 implanting memories and some others. He really knew nothing at all. The weird thing is if he was an FBI agent, then surely they'd still have records of him. But we have some insight when he is in VR he's being erased from government servers, so they must've been doing it. Anyways

Symbolism. Shattered realities, broken lives, etc. And Tom seeing only pieces of the whole picture at a time, like seeing individual pieces of a broken thing. You can't get a clear picture of something with only a few parts of it.

Just started watching this series and already seeing a recurring theme every episode with a glass breaking/tray dropping thing and a cigar thing. Not sure how this will play out in the end. Not making much sense with the negatives since the picture has already been seen by many people.
