An acid trip can be a wonderful, cosmic, oceanic experience or it can be a reckoning, you had to be aware that the things you were avoiding could become unavoidable! Set and setting are important factors to consider when tripping. Back in the 1960's, a set of shared beliefs, ideas, attitudes, and knowledge were common within the counterculture. When you tripped, you felt part of that collective consciousness, it was reassuring to sense a connection to everyone. I wouldn't want to trip today, not only because I'm not as strong as I was when young (mindset) but because there isn't a supportive culture (setting).

I always carefully planned my trips. Except this one time I remember peaking on 2 hits of mescaline and my mother came in to my room and said "your father and I want to have a family meeting". Instead I turned on the black light and strapped in for the rest of the ride. 😂

As someone who did a TON of Acid in the late 80's with my idiot friends, i gotta say I love this story. Thing is, what happened to him on stage happened to all of us at one time or another. The difference is his got focused thru his guitar and someone recorded it for the world to see. And what you see is a deeply "Religious" experience. He said the word "Shaman". But i would say at that time he was just going from Student to Teacher. Like a snake he shed his skin live on stage. In a thousand years people will still watch Soul Sacrifice with open mouths and awe in their eyes. It was the making of a musical Shaman. Respects Mr. Santana

See, what Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole lifestyle he helped create. he described it so well with the slithering snake hah its incredibly difficult to find the "notes on the neck" in this mindset and nothing feels stationary with the neck.. pretty much abandon using any eyesight and rely purely on the connection and feeling of the music... its incredible/quite the experience

I saw Santana only once back in 1970. They levitated that arena with pure called down Cosmic energy. It was absolutely amazing to experience! Yes. Cindy Blackman. Also long time drummer for Lenny Cravitz. She is a life long member of the Baha'i religion along with the late Jimmy Seals and Dan Seals, Dash Crofts, old L.A. "Studio Wrecking Crew" guitarist member Louie Shelton back in the day, Dizzy Gillespie and many others in the music business. Carlos Santana is a very deeply spiritual man so it would certainly be very interesting to take those two out for dinner!

I saw Santana with Phish opening on their first performance for Santana at the Greek theater, hiked down the hill where all the hippies saw the show for free begins the fence and I dropped some acid. It was almost 30 years ago and will go down as one of the greatest nights of my life. Best show ever.

He really played that Sg,,, Obviously did not hurt him at all. Insane playing soul sacrifice. Watch the directors cut a few times year to be humbled.
@kevinrollman31014 жыл бұрын
I know what he is talking about when I was 17 I was in a band in wash D.C. and it was a teen club type gig! I took this purple blotter acid like an hour before we were to start the show! By that time I was well off and in 1973 the LSD was Real LSD!! Same thing my 1968 Sunburst Fender Stratocaster’s neck was going from very skinny and short to bending backwards and all that!! I played all of our songs by not looking down at the fretboard at all!! One thing I found out was because of the speed in the acid I developed playing technique I never had before!! I was able to do better vibrato’s, I could play much faster licks than ever before and I could play that speed forever and not get tired so we really put on the best show we ever did and they for sure wanted us back!! Now that I am 65 years old since then at the age of 28 I heard from the Bible how to accept the shed blood of Christ to cover my sin and asked God to save me from the penalty for sin which is physical death and then being cast into Hell! You see you cannot enter Heaven with sin on your soul! How do you get rid of that sin so you can enter Heaven after you die! Jesus paid the price being the God Man in His own Blood on the cross. All a person has to do to be saved and have their sin washed away is pray to God: Lord I believe I am a sinner like you say I am, please forgive me of my sins, and please God save me from Hell! If you are sincere and believe you are a sinner, believe that Jesus took your sin upon Himself on the cross and shed His blood, died, was buried, and rose again, showing that His blood sacrifice was accepted by God the Father to atone for your sin, and admit you are a sinner, ask for forgiveness, and ask Him to save you from Hell He will and you will be saved, born again, for all eternity and go straight to Heaven when you die!!
