Fastest QuarterMile pass of all tiem was Kitty O'Neal in one of Ky Michaelson's rocket cars, before the peroxide fuel availability was severely restricted - 412 MPH in the quarter mile.
@orsoncart944116 күн бұрын
Wrong. That's all made up by Ky Michaelson, he is an idiot who claims all sorts of things (see his website full of things he says. Bizarre) Kitty O'Neil's car did not have a rocket engine physically capable of doing anything like the time and speed KY Michaelson claims(in his dreams). The most powerful HTP rocket car engine was built by George Garboden of GG industries for Sammy Miller in Vanishing point. Sammy Miller ran 3,58 sec at 386 mph with 15,000 people in attendance to see it. Kitty O' Neils claimed record was only seen by one person KY Michaelson in his imagination. O'Neils car only had 5000lbs of thrust, Sammy Millers had 8000lbs. No one has ever done 400mph in the quarter, Vanishing Point was capable but the conitions had to be correct before it could be attempted.

While it may be slower than a dragster, the fastest she's been is 336mph at 5.3. It takes longer to get a jet engine going but over the last 3rd she really shifts.

I never fully understood why the afterburner is repeatedly activated/deactivated prior to takeoff...or is that something else that causes all the white smoke and bright orange flames?
@nickyjam7708 жыл бұрын
first to heat up then to stage, since it's the only way to move.
@nonoaidnono8 жыл бұрын
the white smoke is diesel, as a crowd pleaser, lighting the afterburner on low rpm is literally crowd pleasing and attracting more crowd, as it is so loud, once it hits full rpm thats all serious, but if it just rolled up and went it would not be so interesting, as it only lasts 6 seconds down the strip

So what has it actually run? I've personally seen the Hanna's run in the low 5's at over 295mph in the 1/4mi and that was 3-4yrs ago. The Hanna's designed a multi-stage afterburner for their jet FC's. The Eastern Raider & the First Strike.

@lerroc Tony Schumacher is the fastest top fuel dragster at 4.428 @ 336 MPH does it at 5.57 at the same speed. Not slaughtered, and this thing runs this fast all the time, not only that but a TFD requires a total engine tear down and rebuild after each run, this car does not. It is like a bottle rocket on steroids and you make it sound like its farting it's way down the track. In most runs this car would destroy a funny car. This is no average jet car. Do some research before commenting.
