This brings to mind an experience a family member had in WW II in Europe. He and his squad were ambushed, in enemy territory, and all but him were shot and killed. Being a German-American, he knew German, and knew what the Nazis were saying. While he played dead he listened and they were debating on whether or not to shoot the corpses. The CO said it would be a waste of ammunition so they didn't shoot the bodies...he stayed hidden, in a pile of corpses, of his friends, for hours and hours. Finally, night came. He was convinced he was alone, so he got out from the pile and jumped into a nearby creek. He ran that creek 7, 8 miles back to American lines and survived, but he wasn't the same after that. I don't think anyone could be.

I’ve had many nightmares after dying on Hill 493 to save Daniels and he gets even more aggressive during the ambush because he misses me so much. It would have been a lot better if I was alive during the ambush but I wasn’t. I’ve never experienced Daniels being emotionally aggressive at everyone as he still struggles to cope that I’m not at his side anymore. I’m dreading the ending
