Hi Folks,
Here's quite a quick belt change and cleanup of a Sanyo MGP30 personal stereo cassette player from the 1980s. It needed a new belt and was missing its belt clip.
In this video, I give it a clean & service and replace the belt to keep it running a while longer - also adding the belt clip to restore full usability!

People say that our disposable society of gear that was never intended to be repaired is a 21st century phenomenon. It really isn’t. You can trace it as far back as the 80’s. As seen here.

Awesome video man, this was a nice short easy fix. Really shows that not all issues are too complicated or a reason to throw anything out. That is a really slick looking cassette player. Keep up the outstanding work man.

Thanks for watching. Yeah - this one was straightforward. I've had a few of these lately that needed more work on the structure or electronics, but now and again they're not too bad 👍

Looks like the one I bought in 1989, only on mine the front and back panels were red.

Yes, I think black and red were the only available colours for this model. The red contrasted nicely with the black EQ sliders.

Almost lookalike design of my Fisher cassette player, very similar except the branding

Fisher was the brand name Sanyo used in the US for a while - so yours may well be the same inside.

@retro_restos oh i did'nt realize that before, thanks for the info. yes its exactly same inside. Sadly, I dropped mine and the cassette player door detached from the unit so does the flex that connects the equalizer torned :(
