Totally, this should be a permanent fixture in these beginning of season games for the SH teams and vice versa for end of year tours.. In addition, Id like to see Portugal, Spain and Georgia in a second tier 6 nations games with relegation and promotions to the 6 nations proper for each subsequent season, same goes for Fiji, Samoa, Japan and Tonga in the Championships

Honestly, three tries is more than i dreamed. As a Scot living in Portugal with South African family this was a dream match, and made me even more excited for the Scotland tests in November. No matter the scorelines, i see one of my teams win 😂😂

The world champions letting in 21 points vs the 15th rank side is shocking and the boks dont stand much chance in the rugby championship

They're never catching up, let's be real here. They can get to the point of the lower-ranked tier-1 nations, but the top 5 tier-1 nations: NZ, SA, England, Ireland, France are just so far ahead of the rest it's unachievable.

Also, because Sacha can play multiple positions, he'll be treated like Frans Steyn who is a bench player who came on as a utility back. Unfortunately they won’t be allowed to join 6N it’s a private tournament and Portugal wouldn’t be able to provide the requisite financial input to sustain themselves in it. I hope that such a scenario will change in the future.

Dont know why everyone's hating on the referee, from what I saw ,she had an excellent game ,players listened and got on with it ,as for the red card ,she had nothing to do with the upgrade,she was just following orders .Now the game,the Boks,AB's,Wallabies had relatively easy last games leading into the Championship, the real focus,only Los Puma's were tested wich will give them a harder edge ,will they win the Chsp,I doubt it ,but they improve every year,and i wouldnt be surprised if they win one .....or two ,anyway, I'd be happy if the ref had more tests,good luck to all teams ,cant wait 😜🤠☻🤪

I watched that collision three times. I don’t see a yellow card, let alone a red. It’s the inconsistency that drives players and spectators crazy. Portugal played pretty well, given they were in hostile territory. The Springbok machine is formidable. Let’s hope Portugal enjoyed the tour and build on the experience.

Pretty telling boks had to resort to a maul for their early try. Brave effort from Portugal with such a massive physical difference with the size and speed of the boks. It took an average of 3 Portugal players to tackle 1 bokke. Kind of makes you miss the days when teams didn't have such massive humans who are also incredibly athletic.

I normally rally for the underdog, but I find distasteful that many comments are patronizing Portugal, or Chile or Uruguay, and other Tier 2 countries. It is binary thinking! From Tier 1 countries viewpoint, these are excellent opportunities to get uncapped players to prove themselves without losing too much face if things go wrong, so these can have an excuse. Still, the score must look really good because that is all most followers will remember....

As far as I know the Portuguese team has no professional players. This will be a very useful game for them and will hopefully see them improve. If World Rugby are serious about expanding the game then these games should be promoted. With better coaching and investment in the game in Portugal who knows how much they will improve over time?!

That’s no longer true. We have a few amateurs on the team (including Jose Santos, who scored 2 of our tries in this game), but over half the team is professional. Most play in the French D2.
