This is a Chinese girl, born in 1994, Zhang Qihui, who lost her legs in a car accident when she was 3 years old. Now he is a graduate student at Beijing Central University for Nationalities. The song she played means "reciting and praising bamboo". It is a mixture of bone flute, hole flute, flute, dragon flute and other traditional Chinese wind instruments. Her greatest dream is to open an instrument training class after graduation. Now it seems that it has begun. I am a Chinese music enthusiast. The above information comes from online search.

it's basically a sub-contra-bass flute with fewer keys and an inability to be played solo.The sub-contra-bass flute is massive, ludicrously expensive due to how niche it is, and requires a stupidly large lung capacity to be able to play to any degree of competency.
@MaoRatto2 жыл бұрын
@@mndlessdrwer I would say it would be somewhere between sub-contra and contra. As considering the size of this... I would say it's closer to a Contra bass but pitched a fifth down, it sounds like it is on a sharp key..... The contrabass flutes already have keywork, the bass recorders GOT SOME KEYWORK FOR THIS PURPOSE. This instrument is more akin to Sub-contrabass recorder, but designed poorly. Why require multiple players? When keywork EXISTS?

You need decent external loudspeakers to even hear this flute. The sound is too low-frequency for most built-in speakers in notebooks and phones. On my Macbook Pro built-in speakers, I heard NOTHING of the big flute. Just silence and background music. I had to replay the video to figure out. On Bose headphones, I heard the flute somewhat but the sound was muted and softened. Large Logitech external speakers produced something that might be close to the proper recorded sound. At least it sounded impressive.

My favorite part is from 1:20 to 2:05. The action of picking up the flute is very elegant. When she opens her mouth, as a flute practitioner, I know that her level has reached a very high level. I particularly admire those who can reach the master level in a certain field. By contrast, whatever I do, I can only reach the middle level. I can read books, learn musical instruments, learn programming, learn electronic circuits and so on. Maybe it's because she lost her legs when she was young, so she focused on it. Like the most famous Erhu composer of Erquan Yingyue in China, Taoist Ah Bing, because he was blind, he could concentrate on hearing and music. It's a little sad to hear the music. The above can only be an excuse. Few people in the world have become masters in a certain field. Most of them can only be ordinary. I am just an ordinary person.

Does anyone know roughly how far that sound would carry, say if it were played from the top of a hill/mountain? Because that's what I was imagining, someone in the ancient past building the flute and playing these beautiful sounds to be heard for miles.
@potapotapotapotapotapota Жыл бұрын
It might carry but depends on how many other competing sounds there are and how loud she is playing. The fact is that the lower the frequency the further the note carries which is why you can usually hear the bass and drums from miles away at a concert. I don't believe this flute playing would carry that far, not because the flute isn't loud but because a player would not be able to push enough air through it to make a loud enough sound. However, from my experience playing standard concert flute on mountains and hilltops, the sound definitely carries in very echoey places and you will hear it from miles away too.
