You can click F1 to read the explanation from SAP. It is very clear to understand. External Number Assignment Without Validation Use In the case of external number assignment, this indicator tells the system not to check the material number entered on the screen against the number range. In this case, the material number assigned must contain at least one letter, and not consist only of figures.

Question is not sure. Anyway if you want to assign a Tax code to a material, you need to assign the Tax Code in Purchase Inforecord for the combination of Material+Vendor+Purchase Organization

FINP is for finished goods or FERT. Please clarify

Hi Krishnamoorthy, It is FERT only as per SAP standard Finished Goods Materials. There is no standard FINP but we used to copy FERT and create new material type as FINP or ZFIN etc to indicate Finished Products
