Dj, these are wonderful sessions. I love how you go deep into a topic to really understand it all the way down. Really understand the "why" instead of just "copy this code". Since the entity "something" is a projection within the service "banana" why did it fail the first time when request was sent when the configuration was pointing to a persistent layer? I did not understand why the projection works only when read from "memory" but not from the persistence until it is deployed. The perception of service is that it should be agnostic of the underlying data layer of whether it is from "in-memory" or a persistence layer and a projection is equivalent to a view and there is data for the entity "books" in either case (persistence layer or in memory)

The table did not exist in the persistent layer. You need to build de persistent layer again with the new "tables" e.g. cds deploy -2 sqlite. Then the new "table" will be created in the persistent layer.
