Idk how many hours I had into this and Twisted Metal 2 back in the day, but it was ridiculous.

For those watching, there are actually 4 of those "Super Guns" on the map. You don't really need more than 2, but in case you get killed and lose one, you can also get one in the dump in the southeast corner of the map. The area with a bunch of bulldozers. Shoot at the big dirt pile in the corner and there is one. There is also one hidden in a large building between the Kremlin and the train station where you can get an extra life, as well as some of the loot to bribe the enemies. The building is just across the main circular road from that train depot, and also hides an armor repair. There is also an extra live somewhat toward the middle of the map, just below the long thin, sort of flacid penis shaped island
@rlouie057 ай бұрын
Some of us only remember the super rail gun being available at the garbage/bulldozer depot towards the southeast, the yellow brick building near the airport that also has the special ammo, then some tall building between the Kremlin and the "get a life" train depot. As fun as it is, some of us are still disappointed that Hack said it punches like a cannon, which is true, but it definitely does NOT fire like an Uzi. You need 4 shots to take down a T-80, then 6 to take down either the Hip or Havoc, which both gunships were a disappointment when Hack said the latter was "a match for your chopper!" only for me to down all 3 before they even got near the Kremlin walls.

@@rlouie05 Every time I replay this (as I mentioned, I revisit the entire Strike series every couple years) I forget all about that gun and do it the hard way. Both on Kremlin, and Dracula. And then I remember and go back and do it the much easier way. I will say it is nice to see I am still able to do it without that gun.

Nick Arnold = Shadowman
@rlouie057 ай бұрын
Him being the Shadowman is a tacit admission that STRIKE basically violated the sovereignty of multiple ex-USSR states by making up a villain that somehow had access to nukes, ex-Soviet equipment, and various traitors willing to restore the USSR, where they went in under the false flag of stopping such a foe that had the power to influence uprisings in Crimea, near the Black Sea, near the Caspian Sea, and Transylvania (where all villains leading the uprisings perished by design apparently), then getting the lead ex-KGB and top mobsters arrested by causing a ruckus with Yeltsin & his cabinet as bait?
@PutkisenSetä6 жыл бұрын
I'd comment on Yeltsin being drunk but whoever is manning the fast food counter must be blitzed. An armored car gets exploded right outside the window and all they can muster is "Meh, seen worse. Here's your horse meat."

That kind of gets revealed in Nuclear Strike when he dies in the very first mission of the first campaign. And no one on the Strike team seems all that upset.

I love the Strike games (my favorite series of games, actually) but too many of the Playstation games' levels were trolly. This is a perfect example with the ICBM's popping up with no warning and at the very end of a level so if you don't get them in time since you are not expecting them (since they are not an official mission), you have to start all over. I LOVED the difficulty of the Caspian campaign, with it being very difficult but mostly at the beginning. So if you die, you didn't waste almost an hour. Same with the DMZ campaign of Nuclear Strike. But these with the big surprise that is easy to SNAFU right at the end was just bad game design. Like a Super Mario Maker troll level that makes you play a long level, only to put a hidden block over a pit right before the flagpole so when you jump to reach the flagpole, you bonk your head on the hidden block and fall into the pit.
@saper11718 ай бұрын
I totally agree with you on that case. The Caspian campaign is my favorite because it is difficult but way more fair without such sudden surprises, and there are also multiple ways of passing it.
@FUGP728 ай бұрын
@@saper1171Even playing it back now (I play all the Strike games from Sega through Playstaiton every couple years) I love having to do Caspian several times. But the reason why I am on your video right now is because I was sick and tired of SNAFUing after an hour on the last campaign. I went straight to the ICBMs when I got the Priority Override message. But they never came out and I SNAFUed. I still don't know what cause it. Unless maybe you are required to keep shooting at Shadowman's plane for some period of time before going to to ICBMs. But it isn't as if the plane escaped. He was still in Red Square for crying out loud. It was either seek out a playthrough, or set a save state right before the mission. But I didn't want to do that. (In fairness, I was going to set a save state, just to see what I was doing wrong, and then play the entire campaign from start to finish once I figured it out.) At this point, I just want to move onto Nuclear Strike to have the on screen HUD and the targeting capability. I also play Future Cop LAPD since that is as close as we got to the promised Future Strike of the end credits of Nuclear Strike. Future Cop started out as Future Strike, but they decided it was too different and didn't want to make it part of the Strike series.

In the original game, for fun, I put in MIDNIGHOIL and armed myself with fuel pods to see what happens if I go straight to the Kremlin Wall where the 3 ICBMs emerge after you shoot down the Shadowman plane, where after melting 2 of them down, mission 8 was marked "Terminated" even though Shadowman didn't emerge yet (somehow I triggered the beginning of the 3rd mission, though thankfully the SCUDs didn't ram the walls until I returned from cleaning up the 1st and 2nd missions, then jumped to the 7th mission by melting that building away from the 2nd presumed Shadowman and putting him with the bears, then went to capture the mob boss in level 6 by melting his building too, only to double back to mission 3-4-5 and somehow the Shadowman plane escaped and ICBMs from Saint Basil's Cathedral still went off and I SNAFU'd upon returning to the Kremlin, but won! Note: Don't you think it was kinda disappointing how this supposed Red Army higher-up turncoat didn't try to face us head-on in the end with a Super Havoc or whatever for Mission 8 vs just making us effectively destroy Organized Crime and capture the lead crooked politician while getting their President and his loyal cabinet out of harm's way only to tell us he was about to escape with our copilot (who didn't utter a single word upon being saved yet again, maybe his contract ended after Dracula Strike?) while starting WWIII?

@@rlouie05 I don't know if the isometric view really would have worked well with a head to head helicopter battle. It barely worked as it was with the few times there were flying enemies that were easy to kill. I think when I first played it, I was just happen that he didn't escape and that it wasn't all a set up for Nuclear Strike.
