This Hadith mentions the sun in relation to the Throne of Allah. Now, we need to pause for a moment and ask ourselves: According to Islamic belief, is the Throne of Allah in the seen world (عالم الشهود) or in the unseen world (عالم الغيب)? Of course, the Throne belongs to the ghayb. So from our earthly perspective, the Throne is a metaphysical reality. If a Muslim and a disinterested, impartial Non-Muslim can agree that this is indeed how a Muslim regards the Throne of Allah, then it follows that any text that is talking about the interaction between the sun and the throne is *necessarily* talking about metaphysical, not physical realities. Hence to even ask if such an interaction matches or doesn't match physical observations and physical concepts is entirely nonsensical from the outset. And Allah knows best.

So according to Mohammad Hijab “It goes and prostrates beneath the Throne, then it asks for permission (to rise) and permission is given to it. Soon it will prostrate, but it will not be accepted from it, and it will ask for permission (to rise) but permission will not be given to it; it will be said to it: “Go back to where you came from.’ So it will rise from its place of setting and that is what Allah, may He be Glorified, refers to in the verse: ‘And the sun runs its fixed course for a term (decreed). That is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing (Qur’an 36:38)'” mean that Sun is continuously setting and prostrating under the throne of Allah. Got it! Great intellectual argument. But what about the fact that one it will not be granted permission to rise again and will be told to go back to where you came from? So that day earth will stop spinning? And where will the sun go? Some say it will rise from West, that day. So earth will start spinning in reverse?

imo, the surah luqman ayah that you are referring to is simple to understand, modern equipment or using a dagger etc to cut open the womb and see and then claim, see i know it too know... thus the God is wrong or the quran is wrong or using shaitan, jins help to bring forth the news about what is going on inside the womb, is it a male or female, is it healthy or diseased, its eye color etc, again that can only be done if the jinns move inside. In brief the whole modern equip or using dagger thing or jinns help (because those beings are capable of doing it) are wrong, one could have been right in one's claim if one can do it right without all of these things and that is something we can't do, this is what imo is being referred to, wallahualam.

That is true. And he was talking to people in the 7th century. Though I do think that verse was literal because there are other references that mention all things worship Allah in ways which we do not know. Just like Mohammed says, it's not a science thing, it's a metaphysical thing. Also, we shouldn't feel the need to base truth on science. Even if some of them could be contradictory. Though his explanation was actually really good. Especially about the Axis of the Earth which could be it's prostration.
@nawalibrahim36803 жыл бұрын
@@TheOneLogic69 No I understand that, and I agree. But I think if were only looking to try to prove truth by using something based on human perception, it doesn't allow creativity. What if instead of trying to prove verses scientifically, we try other things. I think that would be cooler. And we wouldn't be limited in our interpretation. The first people to come up with theories thought outside the box. But now we can only think inside of it. Because once you come out of it, it's ridiculed and seen as illogical and it doesn't follow this law or it comes against this idea. So I was just encouraging more outside the box thinking. That's what I was trying to say. That's why I really liked it when he said that the Earth prostrating could be that it's on its axis, instead of denying the idea that inanimate objects are living as well.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh I am Alhamdulillah a Muslim and I have no problem with the literal, word for word meaning of the Hadith. And I see absolutely no contradiction to the fact that the sun has its fixed orbit. The reason is quite simple. Allah subhana wa teala says in the Quran: Surah 64. Ayat 1. "Everything in the heavens and the earth praises Allah. To Him belongs the Kingdom, and to Him all praise is due, and He is Able to do all things." Not only the sun, everything worships the Creator. Another verse says: Sura 22, Ayat 18. "Do you not realize that to Allah prostrates everyone in the heavens and everyone on earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the animals, and many of the people? But many are just deserving of punishment. Whomever Allah shames, there is none to honor him. Allah does whatever He wills." A critic can therefore ask not only about the sun, not only under the throne, but in general: "Why do I not see any animals, trees, mountains praying? That's in the Quran, so where's the pray?" And that's the point for me, the key to understanding these verses is also the key to understanding the hadith of the sun and its prostration. Allah swt. says in: Surah 24, Ayah 41. "Do you not realize that Allah is glorified by whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and even by the birds in formation? Each knows its prayer and its manner of praise. Allah knows well what they do." And that is the point. They don't pray like we do, every creature has its own prayer, its own way of prostration, of worship. And we humans do not know exactly how each creature prays and how. This is between Allah swt. and its creatures. It is something that is hidden from us. And so it is with the prostration of the sun under the throne. In the long version of Hadith Sahih Muslim 159 it says: "It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Verily it (the sun) glides till it reaches its resting place under the throne.Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came, and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came, and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides (in such a normal way) that the people do not discern anything ( unusual in it) till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting, and it will rise from the place of its setting.The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith." In the hadith it says لاَ يَسْتَنْكِرُ النَّاسُ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا that the people don't notice, don't realize it. We are this people. Just as it is with other creatures like the mountains, the trees, the animals, the moon and the stars, it is also with the sun that we humans do not see the worship of these creatures. Like Allah swt. says: "Each knows its prayer and its manner of praise. Allah knows well what they do." Now of course they can say "but what about the time when the sun turns to the throne or goes there". Quite simply, where does it say that this has to happen in our kind of time. All of this of the Art of Worship of other creatures a belongs to the hidden, Gayb. And so there is no problem with that. Wa Allahu Alem. And as for the Christians who accuse this thing. Unfortunately, that's what missionaries often do. Unfortunately, we have to teach them their own Bible. Psalms 148: 1 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts! 3 Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! 5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created. 6 And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.[1] 7 Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, 8 fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! 9 mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! 10 beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds! 11 Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12 Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13 Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven. In other words. The Bible also says that all creatures, including the sun, worship God.

In verses 55-17, Allah says that He is "the Lord of the two Easts and the Lord of the two Wests". This verse actually points out that a "place" that is in the West for someone is actually what is in the East of someone else at the same time, i.e. when someone sees a sunset, someone else sees a sunrise of the same Sun from a different location. Hence, for two people far distant from one another, there are two Easts and two Wests. From this, it also follows that the Sun is always setting and it is also always rising relative to the location of the two people observing. And this is what the Theory of Relativity predicts and/or confirms.

This is my view! I think as an observer on earth one should put everything in a proper perceptive. If for example one is standing on the surface of the earth in Madinah one will certainly observe the sun rises from the east and set in the west. Then one walks to the east or to west one will certainly perceive the earth is flat. But if one continuely walks towards east one will continuely perceive the earth is flat even though after rounding the earth back to Madinah and didn't find the real east! So what I meant by the proper perspective is that one should specified the reference point or the frame of reference if one to talk scientifically....as there is no real east or west on a spherical earth! Similarly if one to talk about geocentrism or heliocentrism.... should clearly stated either one refers to our solar system or the universe? It is not impossible the earth is the true center not the pulsating universe(likes one heart!). On top of that one should realize that the so called the reality of the universe we observse is only a representation of our mental perception. No one knows exactly what "below" the centre of the earth....it could be another metaphysical space.... something likes above the seventh heaven. The centre gravity of the earth could be the "miskat"???(The earth is above..."wa maa tasta aththaraa")

If the seven heavens are under the throne of Allah already. Than why did prophet Muhammad asked his companion that: "Do you know where the sun goes at sunset?!"..."it goes underneath the throne of Allah and asks for permission to rise up again. And a day will come where it will not be given permission and it will be said to it (sun) that go back where it came from. And that is when the sun will rise from the West". And in another hadith prophet Muhammad says that: "Do not perform prayers when the sun rises and when it sets. For, the sun rises between the two horns of the devil and sets between the two horns of the devil". The other variant of the same sahih hadith says that: "Satan goes and stands in front of a sun at the times of sunset and sunrise to imitate God. So that's why don't pray at these times". The only problem is that the sun is CONSTANTLY "rising and setting" SIMULTANEOUSLY on someone somewhere. These 2 above mentioned hadiths can only be true on a Geocentric Flat Earth model. And these hadiths suggest that prophet Muhammad did not knew that the earth is spherical with heliocentric model. Thus the Quranic verse: Until, when he reached the setting of the sun [i.e., the west], he found it [as if] setting in a body of dark water, and he found near it a people. We [i.e., Allah] said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." - Surah 18 Verse 86 WHY would Allah mention here what Dhul-Qarnayn saw? What was so special here? Think? Except that Muhammad believed that the earth was flat when he was making up the Quran.

Muslims cannot simply admit that Muhammad had a 7th century understanding of the world, and the Quran contains many man-made myths and legends of the time. The Quran and the hadiths are completely consistent with a geocentric model. Allah could have used very simple words to give the correct scientific explanation (and neither the one in the Quran nor the correct one could have/would have been proven for almost 1000 years), yet he states exactly what people believed in... People back then didn't know basic things, that why the Quran for example talks of falling stars (which were meteors going through our atmosphere, not distant stars - but they didn't know the difference) or of seven heavens (which was a common ancient cosmology as there are seven objects you can see moving in the sky an people gave each a celestial sphere or heaven, in some cases stars were in one of the heavens). Etc.
@Akhysalafi2 жыл бұрын
the word used in the verse is luminary, luminary is not specifically a star it can be anything shining, a meteor is shining, or maybe it is a metaphysical luminary that we cant even comprehend, or as Ibn Kathir its a sort of (physical or metaphysical) flame coming from the star that hits them

"The Sun rotates as it orbits the center of the Milky Way. Its spin has an axial tilt of 7.25 degrees with respect to the plane of the planets’ orbits. Since the Sun is not a solid body, different parts of the Sun rotate at different rates. At the equator, the Sun spins around once about every 25 days, but at its poles the Sun rotates once on its axis every 36 Earth days" according to a NASA article. These movements could be figuratively said as prostrations and Allah knows best.

@5nyper3 жыл бұрын
@@walid_bouguelouz when the sun rises from the west, this will be at a time where no new believers/forgiveness would be accepted. It turns out the the sun actually has some influence on the rotation of the earth (since the earth itself does not spin itself, it spins from the initial inertia from its creation), so the sun having a scientifically unprecedented affect on the earth during the end times can semantically fit. The other aspect is that since we establish the initial going and prostration/asking permission is matters of the unseen, returning is also very much apart of that. and Allah knows best

From science we know that the moon circles around the earth, the earth circles around the sun, the sun circles around the galaxy and the galaxy circles around something we don't know (visual limitations), but lets call it the center. To keep it simple lets consider sun moving around the Galaxy using the following animation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmPFl3tprKymrdE Notice the movement of sun on the Galaxy plane. It is not a straight line but rather in a wavy motion. i.e. it goes up, and then comes down which in my humble opinion is the possible physical manifestation of prostration of the Sun and of course Allah swt knows best. i.e. The sun(=head) goes up akin to human standing up, then it goes down akin to human putting their forehead on the floor, therefore akin to a Sijda. So the sun as it moves keeps making Sijdas under the throne. It then asks permission from Allah swt after each Sijda and permission is granted and it rises up to make another sijda. Soon it will prostrate, but it will not be accepted from it, and it will ask for permission to rise but permission will not be given to it; it will be said to it: “Go back to where you came from". In my humble opinion the Sun will make a U turn underneath the Galactic plane. When this happens, the earth will experience a rotation inversion. i.e. the North and south poles of earth will flip making the rotation of earth clockwise instead of anticlockwise. This would be the day when Sun will appear to rise from the west from earth just like sun rises from the west on Venus everyday because Venus spins clockwise now unlike earth. Since humans will be able to see this with their eyes, the rotation inversion i.e. flipping of the poles will be smooth and not destructive for life on earth. Of course this is my depiction based on science and my understanding of Quran and hadees and it does seem to explain the events in the hadeees and Allah swt knows best.

Although brother hijab explained it thoroughly, the basic problem with this and many other supposed errors in the glorious quran is simply due to cherry picking fallacy, for instance here they picked up a hadith out of everything to prove that the glorious quran proves geocentrism, that is in my opinion a typical cherry picking; the logical approach is to consider all relevant data (glorious quran & sunnah which brother hijab did) and then make a conclusion based on that data. By using cherry picking one can prove anything for instance let's just talk about scientific method, I cherry pick steady state theory and claim, see science got it completely wrong therefore science can't even provide provisional truths; while if someone else pickup (cherry pick) something like science proved definitively that the earth is a sphere, thus concluding that science can not only provide provisional certainty but also absolute certainty. So who is right and who is wrong logically, rationally.. (although we all know that logic itself can't prove itself to be 100% certain in its conclusions (and many other problems with logic) but just let's use this yardstick as this is the best yardstick after wahi/revelation we have) The truth however is, both of the above positions are fallacious, neither one is logically correct because they are based on cherry picking, wallahuAlam.

@@mtgoat179this is my topic about this issue ----------- In the beginning , the throne is the roof of all the creations as it is known in the islamic faith therefore the sun is under it at all time So this expression is a metaphor for its place in space This does not necessarily mean that the sun directly under the throne We as Muslims believe that God is above us while we prostrate to Him This does not mean that God is directly above us, but between us and Him there are seven heavens ok then what is the meaning of it goes then it prostrates ? this doesn't mean the deviation from its own orbit Ibrahim said in the quran "I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me " that doesn't mean that Ibrahim will go to the heavens so now we know that "going to" doesn't always mean to some place it also may be about intention To explain what is not specific We have to explain it with the specific one allah said "And He is the One Who created the day and the night, the sun and the moon-each travelling in an orbit " This verse is clear and definitive it interprets the hadith and denies that the sun goes to prostrate under the throne Because the sun has its own orbits (meaning that it goes around something not go and stop then prostate then go again) and in today science there is theory suggest that the sun goes around something in the space also the quran didn't say that the sun goes around the earth rather it says that the sun has its own orbit ..didn't mention around the earth In order to understand the unspecific hadith, we turn to the specific verse so that the hadith can be explained The verse was definitive that the sun has an orbit, so the hadith must not mean that the sun actually goes away rather it goes around something ----------------------------------------------- Why sunset and sunrise time specifically? God set the time of morning and evening (sunrise and sunset) A time to prostate willingly or un willingly As is clear in the Qur’an in many verses, including: allah said " Whatever beings there are in the heavens and the earth do prostrate themselves to Allah (Acknowledging subjection),- with good-will or in spite of themselves: so do their shadows in the morning and evenings. " The two words in Arabic are more accurate than in English (بالغدو والاصال) They mean a period shortly before sunset and a period shortly before sunrise (salah al fajr and salah el asr) At that time, all creatures are commanded to prostrate There are those who prostrate willingly (prostration with their shade and their body) And whoever refuses unwillingly (his shadow prostrates) The matter is not only with the sun at this time, but also with all creatures, as the verse clarified There are those who ask, but the hadith makes it clear that the sun will prostrate, and this means that it was not prostrating before There are two responses to this claim First: The prostration of the sun that mentioned in the hadith concerns its setting from the arabian peninsula only, especially Mecca and Medina Second: Abraham's words to his father " I will go to my lord and he will guide me" It does not mean that Abraham - at this particular time when he said that to his father - was a misguided or disbeliever in God and will believe after that rather He was a believer in God when he said that .. He often called his father and his people to renounce idols and worship God so this expresses was the continuity of submission to God Hence the hadith of the sun going to prostrate It also means continuity . explaining the hadith " Based on the evidence that we have mentioned, we must interpret the hadith based on the Qur’an and on the basis of peremptory evidence Not to take the hadith and neglect the context (the Quran ) as i explained before ... The hadith says that the sun usually intends to prostrate while it is in its place under the Throne (in space), but on the Day of Resurrection a change will occur. When the sun intend to prostrate and submit to God, God will reject its prostration and submission. God will change the cosmic laws and the sun will rise from the west And then the movement of the sun stops and the world ends ( the sun Runs its fixed course For a term ) Why would its prostration be rejected? Because in this time and when the sun rises from the west, prostration or repentance is not accepted from anyone ------------------- finally Even if we take this hadith literally, it goes and prostrates What about the prostration of stars and trees in the Qur’an? Did the Arabs not notice a thousand years ago that trees didn't mover or prostrate? As I said, even if we take the hadith literally, this means that there is a movement of trees and the sun that is not visible to us like spirits and angels. It means that all things has a material (visible to us) and an intangible (invisible to us) appearance.

Another thing to point out here that refutes the idea that the sun goes under the earth is that the hadith says that the sun goes and prostrates under the throne of Allah when it sets. So if the sun were to go to the throne of Allah it would be going upward, and not beneath the earth as they claim we believe. In other words, if the Prophet (SAW) meant that the sun goes to the throne of Allah then it wouldn't make sense that it is going the opposite direction (down beneath the earth, instead of up towards the sky where the throne of Allah is).
@jonjeskie52342 жыл бұрын
The sun is already in the same direction as "upward" so this would not work. Muhammad simply did not understand astronomy. Sun does not "go" anywhere And definitely does not ask for permission to rise.
