my favourite tactic as a sapper, i call it the great chevaux tumor. gather 3 sappers and basically spam large chevauxes everywhere. Make sure there are small nooks and crannies for you to get past some of the barricade, essentially making a maze. it's rather effective, reducing effectiveness of riflemen. However, Officers and Sappers shine in this environment. The main issue being that chevauxes are easy to climb and shoot from above, but essentially space out the chevaux just enough so that getting on 1 chevaux grants access to the whole maze's roof. if the whole team is in the tumor of a fort, any riflemen in the back can shoot the ones getting ontop of the chevauxes to counter. Or basically you could also just run around, as chevauxes grant good enough cover for bullets. Just make sure you dont get lost in your own maze. Another version of the barricade wall, is my own version i call the Fence trench. It allows the line infantry to shoot through the fence whilst also getting some cover from afar, since it's harder to shoot into the fence than out of the fence. Although it's easy to climb over, I usually have a barricade wall behind it for teamates to retreat to, as the effectiveness of the wall wanes as the enemies get closer, making it easier for them to shoot into the fenced area. i have more ideas, but I'd probably grow tired before i list all of them

I suggest digging 3 times first, when u dig it fully and make the barricades you can still aim and get your shots while covering more of your body.

Another tip is leave 1 barricade unbuilt when building a fort. Click it 4/5 times so u only need to click once more to build it fully. This way your team has a door to go in and out of, and u can close it when the enemy is coming

In cav maps, most of the time, all you have to do to protect your team from enemy cav is to make a straight line of stakes from your spawn to the invisible wall behind your spawn. This is because the enemy cav loves to circle around your spawn in such maps to get as many kills as possible. By closing off the back with a simple straight line of stakes, spawn assaults become dangerous, if not deadly.

One thing to note about the barricade wall is that enemy sappers can basically destroy it in 3 hits and plus you could already see them coming and so you could surprise attack THEM by climbing over your own sandbag wall. It also takes less time to make the sandbag wall than the barricade wall

The thing about the sandbags is that the enemy sapper can as well climb over them, so if you are reloading and not paying attention, you will be killed. The barricade, although it doesn't allow for you to go over them, neither the end can go over them, so if you are reloading, the enemy has to destroy the barricade to actually damage you, so you can be ready by the time they break in. Also ok the barricade wall, you can place some stakes on the side that you can use to walk on and over the barricades and you can have the same "surprise" effect.

The main deciding factor between these two are the time it takes to make them. Barricade walls are well reinforced and act as actual walls but sandbag walls act more of like a cover rather than a fort

hmmm as a "king" sapper, i make a sapper build called "armored barricade". you make 2 barricades in a large dirt, make sure the barricade is in not in the center, should be front. lastly add the chevaux from behind. optional for that armored barricade: use small chevaux for ppl to climb on the build. repeat those and you get a very op base the downside is that it will take long to build. it doesn't protect from cavalry but possibly artillery. this base is very crucial for corner camping due to the enemies taking long to destroy the fort and you may retaliate.

You can use large chevauxes in building the sides but you have to build them from inside the base and not outside Thats because one side doesnt have a place to climb

Keep in mind these are blood and iron players, so make sure to explain to your team how to use stuff since sometimes your teammates just start destroying your defence so they can leave when there is already a ramp in the back for them to use

Also I think that barricades wall gives more protection to defenders than the sandbags wall bcz , sandbags wall are really fast to build but they dont give as much cover , unlike the barricade wall , youre still exposed even when u crouch down to reload , when you stand up to fire , youre a big target for enemy

They kind of are the same at longer ranges, but you can notice this at closer ranges.

Honestly my ultimate defence strategy was invented by me back in 02.1.2023 when i went to a House and put LOTS of barricades until i reached the end! Let's just say...the enemy was busy...i was the last one alive and the enemy slowly chewed through the House until they killed me. Honestly good defence method if youre a scaredy cat!
