I had that problem on my sapphire 7950 w/boost, when the manufacturers made the shroud it put the fans way too close to the heat sink. Since the shroud is made of plastic it will flex a bit, I put thermal pads that are used in laptops under the 3 mounting points where the fan mounts on the shroud. The pads will elevate the and create more clearance and also absorb the vibration when the fans revs up.

+dijadoit foxtrot In my particular case it was a damaged bearing. Even if i bent the plastic casing holding the fans in a way that would prevent the fan from rattling, it would not spin as fast as the normal one.

Very true, luckily I found the vendor that sold the correct fans for the card. I considered using aftermarket but it would make the card very bulky and take up more slots.

+dijadoit foxtrot and would you sir be so kind to say who the vendor is with the correct fans? I would be interested in knowing. Might try the solution of superboy, but if too complicated, I'll just get the fan. thanks a lot!

I had this too. My fan just fell off. Played then with 1 working fan, then the second one fell off too... No I have no fan and can't start the PC (GPU overheating obviously). This is a common defect I read often about this specific model. Anyone has a suggestion on how to solve this problem? Like buying a new fan (can't put on the old fans properly, they are not stable) or sth? thanks

have the same issue here regarding the rattling fan, any solution yet?

I sent both cards back. You should do the same if you still have the warranty. The only solution would be to change the fan if you can get a spare part (ask the card manufacturer). If thats not available you would have to change the entire cooler which costs around $50 and isn't a very easy job if you aren't used to handling electronics.

***** No idea if you can get the fan separately. People usually just change the entire cooler for an aftermarket one.
