Today we will give you detailed information about these three looking gems Pukhraj (Yellow Sapphire), Sunela (Citrine), and Topaz.
Pukhraj is a gemstone and it is found in all colors, it is called sapphire in the language of gemology. Sapphire comes in all colors, but in India yellow sapphire is called Pukhraj in astrological language and is an expensive gemstone. Out of these three gemstones, Pukhraj has a refractive index (RI) of 1.76-1.77. And its Specific Gravity (SG) is 4.00 and its hardness is 9 on the Mohs scale which is one less than the hardness of a diamond, thus it is an expensive gemstone and can be talked about. People try to give another gemstone in place of Topaz which is Topaz.
Let us now know about Topaz gemstone, Topaz is found in all gemstones in all colors. Its Specific Gravity (SG) is 3.54 and its Refractive Index (RI) is 1.63, Hardness is 8 on Moh scale. In my experience of 25 years till date, I have not received a separate packet in the form of Topaz.
Sometimes this gem is not available from any merchant, yellow topaz is mixed in the packet of yellow Pukhraj. That is why it is very important to recognize it. Although there is a difference between Pukhraj and Topaz, after putting it in the packet, the common person cannot identify it and remove it.
The third gem is Sunela, which we call in the gemological language (citrine), a gemstone of the quartz group, due to its yellow color, it is kept in the category of citrine. Citrine is the cheapest of these three gemstones, its refractive index (R.I.) is 1.5 4-1.55, its specific gravity (S.G.), and its hardness is 7 on the Mohs scale.

आज हम एक जैसे दिखने वाले रत्न पुखराज (येलो सफायर), सुनेला (Citrine), टोपाज़ इन तीनों के बारे में विस्तृत से आपको जानकारी दूंगा।
पुखराज एक प्रिशियश रत्न है और यह सभी रंगों में पाया जाता है, इसे जेमोलॉजिकल की भाषा में सफायर कहते है। सफायर सभी रंगों में आता है, परंतु भारत में पीले रंग के सफायर को ज्योतिषीय भाषा में पुखराज कहा जाता है और यह एक महंगा रत्न है। इन तीनों रत्नों में से पुखराज का रिफ्रैक्टिव इंडेक्स (RI) 1.76-1.77 होता है । और इसकी स्पेसिफिक ग्रेविटी (SG) 4.00 एवं हार्डनेस मोह स्केल पर 9 है जो कि हीरे (डायमंड) की हार्डनेस से एक कम होती है, इसी प्रकार यह महंगा रत्न है और इसके बारे में टेली की जा सकती है। लोग पुखराज रत्न के स्थान पर दूसरा रत्न देने का प्रयास करते हैं जो कि टोपाज़ है।
आइए अब हम टोपाज़ रत्न के बारे में जानते हैं, टोपाज़ सभी रत्नों सभी रंगों में पाया जाता है इसकी स्पेसिफिक ग्रेविटी(SG) 3.54 है और इसका रिफ्रैक्टिव इंडेक्स (RI) 1.63 है , हार्डनेस 8 । मेरे 25 वर्ष के अनुभव में आजतक मुझे टोपाज़ के रूप में अलग से पैकेट प्राप्त नहीं हुआ।
कभी किसी व्यापारी से यह रत्न यूं ही नहीं मिलता पीले पुखराज के पैकेट में पीला टोपाज़ मिलाया जाता है। जिससे इसको पहचानना बहुत ही आवश्यक है। वैसे तो पुखराज और टोपाज़ में अंतर है, परंतु पैकेट में डालने के बाद आम आदमी इसकी पहचान करके इसे नहीं निकाल पाता है। तीसरा रत्न है सुनेला जिसे हम जेमालॉजिकल भाषा में (Citrine) कहते है, यह क्वार्टज ग्रुप का रत्न है पीले रंग होने की वजह से इसे से सिटाइन की श्रेणी में रखा जाता है। सुनेला इन तीनों रत्नो में से सबसे सस्ता रत्न है, इसकी रिफ्रैक्टिव इंडेक्स (RI) 1.5 4-1.55 होती है इसकी स्पेसिफिक ग्रेविटी (SG) एवं उसकी मोह स्केल पर हार्डनेस 7 होती है।
अब इन तीनों में अंतर करना है तो सबसे पहली बात यह है, कि इन रत्नों को हाथ में लेने पर वजन में जो सबसे हल्का प्रतीत होता है वह है सुनेला क्योंकि आप देख रहे हैं इसकी SG 2.65 होती है और पुखराज की SG 4.00 होती है। पुखराज छोटे आकार का होते हुए भी भारी नजर आएगा, जो रत्न भारी नजर आए या वजन में ज्यादा हो तो पुखराज होने की संभावना अधिक है।
