@obnxs1 The SAR9X Platinum DOES have a loaded chamber indicator. It is very small and is simply the top of the front end of the extractor. It is painted red on top and protrudes slightly when there is a round in the chamber. Great comparison video btw. The Canik and the SAR are great pistols. Turkey is killing it lately!

I just got out to the range today for the first time to try out my new sar 9x. I made the purchase after watching a few reviews, including yours. I was not disappointed. I like the way it feels in my hand. Guides aren't as smooth as some higher end models, but for the price, I think it was a great deal for what was included. Also waiting to get the swampfox optic , which I bought solely based on your video. Appreciate you putting in the time to help us SAR owners.

P320 mags for the SAR with slight modification of the mag release location. I have a 35 rd mag that runs like butter. Only trouble I'm having it's finding a holster that fits my Sar9 with a SIG Sauer Foxtrot 1 tactical light. This was easily my favorite gun purchase EVER!!!! TRY IT OUT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

It's a damn nice pistol IMHO. It's eaten everything I've thrown into it without a single failure in over 1k rounds. I've got this Elite SC and the Combat Executive, which is a PHENOMENAL pistol, and I've been debating the SFX...but that means shooting more 9mm...

This was a great review! I was looking for another compact pistol with a safety and just got a glimpse of the SAR9. I was definitely looking at the Canik, but I have children and I need that safety. I think I will be heading over to Academy to check out that SAR9.

Canik has a safety on the trigger but if u feel more comfortable with a manual safety u can't beat a taurus g2c or g3c as a carry pistol. Shield plus is awesome too but more expensive. Taurus g2c and g3c pistols will take taurus g3, canik tp9 and sig p226 mags. Runs flawless with my 20rd canik mags but don't lock the slide back

I love the basic sar9 it shoots better than my glock 19 lolz it's easier to shoot!!! i like it so much that i bought sar9x platinum and i was not disappointed at all....i do have canik executive and combat sf....i love them .....in my opinion if u want upgraded stuff go with canik combat elite and executive....if ur in a budget def sar9...it wont let u down...overall u can't go wrong with both guns....freakin Turkish killin it!

@Master Scammer: I've got a Sig p365 xl for my EDC CC, and am thinking about going to the CZ P-07 instead for safety reason......as a new CC gun owner, I prefer the extra safety of a DA/SA EDC, but know I'll have to put some serious range time in. For my mid/full size 9mm option-- this being the gun I will put lots of range time in as well and will be my bedside gun-- I"m trying to decide between the Canik combat elite and the SAR 9x. I have medium/small hands and both guns felt great (haven't been able to fire them), but the SAR 9x felt especially good in my hands. the ergonomics are just amazing, although getting used to the thumb safety will take some getting used to. The advantage of that is that it too can be a CC option given that it is a slightly more compact gun than the Canik combat elite. I'm thinking of getting the platinum edition SAR 9x with all the stuff that comes with it (light, holster, mag pouches, etc)......... how would you compare the Canik and the SAR at the range? Which shoots flatter and is more accurate with less perceived recoil?

The Sar9x grip is phenomenal IMHO but the Canik Elite Executive/Combat is a far better pistol for the money. I understand wanting a redundant safety as a new CC owner but the Canik has a trigger safety on it. If you’re concerned about it, carry it unloaded with the striker cocked for awhile and do everything crazy you can think of. Check it at the end of each day and once you see that it hasn’t “fired” you’ll probably get more comfortable.

Sar is not a Glock, not even close. The Sar’s ergos are far superior, has a lower bore axis, has less felt recoil, chamber indicator, better grip and stipling, easier take down…, how is that a Glock again?

Elite Exercise has a lot of internal polishing done, Salient Arms barrel, probably the best out of the box trigger on the market right now, and the ability for ANY optic due to the plate system. But it comes in 200-300 higher and only comes with the one optic plate, you need to buy the other three.

Canik seems to win this Match for me adleast in terms of a quick and accurate CC draw pistol! I wonder is there is a extended mag choice and different rail customization for the SC?

AFAIK all the TP series magazines fit, so you could use one of the bigger magazines in this but you’d need a sleeve or just deal with exposed magazine. Caniks have pretty incredible triggers right out of the box, especially at this price point.

@@OBNXS1 Once you get them broke in, you shouldn't have any issues. They were built for NATO rounds, so once you put heavier hitting rounds through them, you should be good to go with 115. I use 115 quite a bit and haven't had any issues with my TP9 Elite.

If you want the red dot on it, you just have to accept that it won’t co-witness until some sight company decides to make aftermarket for it. I like olights, a little too much by my bank statements, but any of the numerous lights out there will work on it.

Do you have a problem with your swamp fox sight turning off while firing due to the battery not having a cover to hold it in. Every now and then my green dot would be off so I have to smack the sight to get the battery back in place

What night sights fit the SAR9x Platinum? Wanna swap my stocks for night sights until I save up for RDS. I love the gun though. Fits my hands like it was molded for me. Flat shooter, and mag capacity is nice as well. Trigger little gritty but not atrocious.

I think it's a Glock front sight and you'd have to modify a M&P sight for the back is what I've heard but I can't confirm that.

Going to pick up the SAR 9X Platinum tomorrow. How much is the Glock trigger job and that freedom smith trigger you put on it cost?

The Glock trigger job is polishing certain parts of the fire control unit; there’s a ton of in depth videos out there on what areas need polishing. But you need to be pretty comfortable about taking the gun apart to do them. The Freedomsmith was, I think, about $70. But they’re not always available for the Sar9.

What was the trigger kit that you got and did you have to modify anything?

I got the trigger from FreedomSmith. No modifications but it is more involved than swapping out a Glock trigger.

Why compare a dedicated CCW pistol to one that is duty sized? Totally different in design and function.

Probably because at the time those were the two Turkish pistols had that were closest in quality/features and I didn’t think my Canik Elite Executive would be a fair comparison.

Did you remove the set screws from the slide? It doesn't sit flush though.

Then you should be good to go. You may have chosen the wrong size screws; I don’t remember which size it was but it was one of the sets in the Sentinel box. The slide curves on the too and the bottom of the Sentinel is flat so it won’t be “flush” but you should be able to snug it up and make it secure.

I’ll summarize it for Randy. Does the Canik have a better stock trigger? Yes, SAR9X trigger is comparable to a stock glock but doesn’t mean it’s terrible. Both have optics mounts. SAR comes with more stuff in the box, larger mag capacity for a slightly higher price. SAR looks better, has a longer barrel and has better grips. Everything after that is pretty similar. Both go bang, bang reliably with just about anything you can feed them. There is no need to justify your purchase with hate. Both are great closely matched guns in the same $400-$500 price range. People don’t change triggers because their great so your point is moot and the comparison there was obvious Great review of these Turkish gems! Keep spreading the good word about them!

If it’s not drilled and tapped with the two holes like this one was, you’ll have to have the slide milled for and optic.

I’ve seen a lot of good stuff from NC Engravers, and I believe their turnaround is pretty quick, but I haven’t had anything done by them myself.

I don’t know if there are any extended mags out there yet. I’d definitely stay away from ProMags for anything though.

I got the sar 9x with the swampfox red dot but I can't get it align. How is your swampfox dialed in?

Mine zeroed fine on the Sar9x. Do you have any type of laser bore sight? That really helped because you can't co-witness the factory sights once you put the optic on and you'll be pretty high over bore so it will take quite a bit of adjustment.

For gods sake i hate it when people do comparisons on guns but modify something as important as the trigger on just one. Once you've done that it's not a good or true comparison of what you will get upon purchase.

No, I said you can do the Glock trigger job on it. If you’re unfamiliar, look up 25 cent Glock trigger job. The Sar9x is very similar in its components so you’d do the same areas when polishing.

I believe they only have the one available for the Sar9 but in different colors. It’s listed as Sar9 but I don’t think there’s any internal differences between the Sar9 and Sar9x.
