Many people may no realize how dangerous is to sing a capella song when the music enters later on. The risk of losing the correct tone is very high. But here, when the orchestra starts to play, Sara shows how perfect is her pitch. She never sings a note out of tune. And always with that big emotion. A truly singer, musician and song writer. ❤

Good point - but also there's a tone from something constantly playing too, right? That certainly would help anyone

My mother was diagnosed with cancer two and a half years ago. As her youngest, I took it upon myself to be her primary caretaker, and I threw myself wholly into the honor. I stood by her side the entire time, and one of the things we did most often was drive an hour each way together to her treatments. We would also occasionally just go on drives for fun. I told her about this beautiful song that made me feel joy and sorrow at the same time and she loved it. The song has been a source of sorrow for me, as I imagined my mother, having had kids at a young age, mourning the passing of her youth, and thinking back to a simpler time in her life when she was free. But it has also been a source of joy for me in that my mother is now free from the shackles of her pain. I now think of her getting behind the wheel and simply driving, with no more fear, no more pain. The most powerful line in this song is “no enemies to call my own, no porch light on to pull me home.” I can think of no happier and sadder single lyric than this. To be without concern, and yet to be alone with no one waiting for you. All of this emotion is beautiful enough, but when delivered by the amazing voice of Sara Bareilles, it becomes transcendental. Thank you, Sara. Rest In Peace, Momma Bear ❤
@smartcentipede2 жыл бұрын
And when I first heard this on her album, the song is actually started with the strike of a match and lighting of a candle. It just absolutely makes the song that much more perfect, somehow.

I bought it before I left the store and I have been a die-hard fan ever since. I’m so in awe of her. She has massive talent pouring out of her. Her voice is just…spectacular. I could listen to her sing the phone book over and over again for hours, and her songwriting skills blow me away. Each and every song she has shared I have loved. Her songs are so beautiful. I love the melodies and her lyrics are so relatable and honest. I am a Christian singer/songwriter who doesn’t always write praise music. I also write my thoughts and feelings as if they were prayers: from laments to supplications to complaints to struggles…whatever resonates in me. And though I am years older than her, I see her as my mentor in many ways. Her voice is so warm and is both intimate and powerful. Her pitch must be perfect, at least it was in this performance. To start a cappella and have the orchestra come in under you three minutes later, in perfect tune with you is a singular and amazing skill. I agree with all who said she was under-appreciated. That’s an understatement. She is a phenomenon. Someday I hope to see her live and I’d love to talk music and songwriting with her. Thank you, Sara. You’ve set the bar so high for the rest of us. You enrich and bless my life (and ears!) with your God-given talent.
