Even though their eyes were different colors, everytime I look into Maybelle's eyes I'm reminded of Johnny somehow. I thank them both profusely for the enormous pleasures of their joyous music with which they blessed America and the world.

Actually, not sure why Johnny said that because they played together on the Wilburn Bros Show in the 60s plus other times in the 50s. They still got together on occasion in every decade.so that 27 years is not true.

Not only is Mother Maybelle such a wonderful self taught player and innovator of the guitar (even though she did play other instruments such as the autoharp and the banjo) with her amazing technique known as the "Carter Scratch", i can only imagine how amazing a mother, mother-in-law and grandmother she must have been. I would've loved to have been part of that connection!

Also in the '60s, I think, at the Newport Folk Festival. But who was going to correct Johnny Cash?
@jackcasey7037 Жыл бұрын
@Brad James yes. Newport Folk Festival 1967. They played Sweet Fern and Cannonball Blues. I think that was when Sara came out of retirement the first time. That would’ve been 24 years, not 27.

Yes. The two songs Sara & Maybelle played on The Wilburn Brothers Show can be found here on KZbin: "While The Band Is Playing Dixie" and "Little Moses". There is also another number from this Johnny Cash show but the title escapes me. Getting old, I guess. 😃
