Her voice totally sounds like her violin- natural, raw, expressive. She uses it as an instrument. Wow!

Like John Hartford and so many great talents she plays with Sara Watkins is a national treasure. Praise the Lord.

I was driving a truck north from NC to Cleveland, had just crossed into Virginia, just south of WV. The only radio station I could get was a blue grass station from a small town west of me. Sara was live in the studio that day performing this song. Still the most memorable 'radio' moment of my life, wishing this song would go on forever. Got to see her live in WV about a year later.

somewhere John Hartford is smiling down and thinking, "...I think I wrote this one for this lady...she can actually get those high notes..."

Gotta love all the Hartford flourishes she puts in this song. Vocally, and with the bow! And the steady steps... I hope everyone has heard her work in 'I'm with Her'. Huge talents at work!

Having worked on the Illinois River (1976-7 probably a couple years after John Hartford), I got very nostalgic when I heard this song on the radio last week. Sara's handling of this material is personal and genuine and evocative of life on the river and I love to hear this.

Wow so I’m late to the party lol I’m here because of the movie The Peanut Butter Falcon. Awesome movie!!!! I love the music in the movie. Than when I come on here for the songs, I get the chills everywhere. To look back on the history of the music like Ola Bella Reed for instance another song in the movie, is such an incredible feeling. Even though I wasn’t raised in that era, I wish I was. So many incredible, talented artists and musicians were. I look at today’s music and think about how music is just not the same meaningful experience. Today’s music is about drugs and sex (that’s saying it in a nice way) who’s F_ _ king who, who’s dating who, and I personally prefer back then music. The meaning, the voices, the way they played their choice of instruments OMG sends me right to my feet dancing. Gets my one foot tapping and can’t sit still. Definitely back then music lol

I miss John Hartford. I first saw him in Charleston WVa when I was maybe 8 years old singing this song on a long hot summer day.

The Peanut Butter Falcon is entertaining, touching and goofy. This song is reminiscent of the bluegrass vocals in Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

Wow! Good heavens! Listen to her play that fiddle!...Stunning! Hard to go wrong with Sara Watkins playing the late, Great John Hartford. Solid 'A'!

What a truly talented young lady! I can't wait to see her in person here in Rancho Bernardo on July 4th. Never have been a fan of this genre, but now I'm giving it another look with newfound appreciation for American rooted music. Wow, just Wow!!

Seems like I heard this song live on the radio about 2009, driving through western Virginia. I only had the station for about 10 minutes. One of the luckiest moments of my life.

How can there be ANY Dislikes here? Obviously, the Dislikers don’t understand how Music works. (There had to have been even more hostility cast toward the studio version, cuz the comments there are Turned Off.) Sweetest voice, monstrous fiddle, and a lyric that’s carved outta callouses. Rock on, Sara!

John Hartford was......IS The MAN!! And Sara definately is one hell of a woman. The best rendition of this song that wasn't by John himself, by far. Oh, to be able to wake up and have coffee with that woman...........Hmmmm.
