When Simba retakes Pride Rock he does so with the blessing of his friends, Nala, Mufasa and his mother Sarabi. She was the lioness who raised Simba and was the one there to support the lions of Pride Rock when Scar’s cruel dictatorship took control. In reality, Sarabi was integral in the stability of the Pride Lands and in the life of Simba, but yet there is still so much to uncover on her story.

It makes sense, I mean lions really don't live all that long in the wild, some are lucky to make it to the age of 10. And judging by how huge Mufasa was, they may have been around the age of 5-6 when they had Simba. And it takes around 3-5 years for an adult male to grow his mane, so with Simba returning with a full on hair-do, she could of been at the right old age of 9 at the end of the movie.

Wow, so they were basically middle-aged by the time they had Simba, and Sarabi was nearing the end of her life when Simba returned. At least she lived to see Mufasa's legacy preserved and the Pridelands restored to their former glory, thus she could pass on peacefully, and complete the circle of life.

I know this is a old comment but female lions usually live longer lives then males, (females can live from 10-15 years in the wild) so she was probably old when they had simba or she was killed

Mufasa and Sarabi were the same age, but she may have lasted a few years longer than he did. She may have been killed when hunting or just died of natural causes.

Honestly, Sarabi was probably the strongest character you could ever find, she has literally went through torture/ living hell (whatever you prefer) Like, she didn’t give in at all and kept strong, she didn’t care if scar was king she just wanted the best for the pride. (Through the rough times, obviously scar didn’t care) So.. Sarabi was actually my most favourite character, even if she didn’t have much script in TLK.

I like to think that Sarabi was present while Kiara was just a cub, but I don't see her living long enough to see her granddaughter grow into a teenager. I'm glad you made this video, because Sarabi is such an underrated character. She went through hell, yet still remained strong. She reminds me a lot of my mom, who I really look up to.

That makes 0 sense because Sarabi wouldn't of had time to die because Lion King 2 starts right off where the first one ended so she couldn't of died that fast, she would've been able to watch Kiara be born. Now when Kiara got older who knows but look at Rafiki he's old and he was there when Kiara was born and grew up so you're comment makes no sense at all. Have no idea where Sarabi was in the second lion king cause she didn't die in the first one she should've been a part of the cast of lion king 2.

Sarabi does appear in the sequel! After the timeskip, when adult Kiara walks down from the den, surrounded by lionesses, the one that says something along the lines of: “My! How much you’ve grown!” Looks suspiciously much like Sarabi.

I agree that she likely died peacefully, and I expect that she helped advise Simba to drive out the outlanders. Simba is a kind soul, and a new king, he was not prepared to kill his uncle even after all he'd done. So I find it difficult to believe he would drive out any of his former pride without a serious push to do so. Now that push might have come from Nala but I think since Nala is so ready to forgive Kovu in TLK 2 it's much more likely this advice came from his wise mother, a lion who had seen what a divided pride can cause. After seeing the pride return to peace she would be eager to help her son make sure they don't get another Scar in their midst and the quickest way to do that would be to drive out his supporters. As the lead lioness she would be strategically placed to know who those were as well. She would know who Scar tended to show favour to, which Simba and Nala would not. That's just my hypothesis though.

What a great video! My family has always been huge fans of Madame Madge Sinclair. She didn’t get the recognition that she deserved during her life & acting career, but she was awesome! I believe that she died of natural cause before Kiara was born. Her being banned is silly because we would have seen her with the outsiders and Plus Simba loved his mother. Plus if she died in a gruesome manner, Simba, Nala, or Zazu would have mentioned it.

I don't think Sarabi would have died of old age by the time Kira was presented! For one reason Lions live between 10 and 14 years but become able to have cubs just over 2 years old! She probably had Simba aged 3-4 and was probably only 7 when Kira was born! So her dying at age 7 is just not likely. The reason she doesn't appear in Lion King 2 probably has everything to do with her voice actress dying, she also wasn't needed for the story and I mean come on, Disney Sequels have left out other important characters before so it's not surprising that she was left out. Now I can maybe accept that she died between Kira's birth and the arrival of kovu but again she'd probably be aged 9 but I'd also say a lion like her living to 9 is incredibly unlikely, not because of a lion factor but because she and all the other characters are animals with human values. So she'd be very well looked after by her son, Nala and all the other lions. Dying at age 7 or 9 is just not likely given the Lion King's world rules. However I feel the biggest reason, as stated, is because her actress died! Sometimes a character only has one voice and Sarabi's will always be Madge Sinclair and no one else.

Sarabi likely was around when Kiara was presented, but she probably died before she grew up. There's NO way she would've remained silent during Kovu's exile. Sarabi knew better than ANYONE what Mufasa would've done, and probably might've gotten Simba to listen to Kovu. Heck, she might've gotten him to either take Kovu from Zira when he met Kiara, or even prevented Kovu, Vitani, and Nuka from being banished. So Sarabi's death and the Outsiders's banishment likely occurred after Kiara's birth (I do believe Zira did kill Sarabi, hence Simba's hatred of Zira, distrust of Kovu, and blindness to the pretty much existence of the other Outsiders).

To be absolutely technical, and specific, Sarabi didn't actually raise Simba. She had him while he was a cub, but wasn't there to raise him out of cubhood through teenhood to adulthood whatsoever. That joy of parenthood was sadly stolen away from her!

Sarabi didn’t get written into the second movie because there was no room for her. According to the co-screenwriter for lion king 2, whatever role she would have gotten was already fulfilled by Nala. Also her voice actress dying so they wanted to respect the character.

I think that she died shortly after hearing about Nalas pregnancy. She knew that the kingdom and monarchy would continiue safetly, so she could finaly rest. She passed peacefully with her son and daughter in law by her side and were reunited with Mufasa.

If you think about it, each character has its own time. For example,Pumaa came out after Mufasas death and he lived only for a bit then Scar dies and it’s Simba,Nala and Kiaras time so maybe that’s because her part is over

Although I'd like to believe that Sarabi did NOT die before/shortly after the birth of Kiara. It's probably most likely what happened. I do still believe that Sarabi was the lioness in TLK2 that says "My how you've grown..." When Kiara is about to go off on her first hunt. I think that because she was just a background character and only had one line the animators didn't feel the need to make her strongly resemble her original design in TLK, as well as the fact that most of the designs were modified a bit in TLK2, if you do a side by side comparison of Simba from the original movie and Simba from the 2nd movie you'll notice several differences. Maybe that's what happened to Sarabi's design too, she simply had a design change/the animators were too lazy to make her stand out noticably since she didn't have a big role in the second movie.

It would be more emotional with his father because he died when simba was so young that it was traumatic for him. With the mother, it's obvious that she must have died at old age. The thing I love about lion king 2 is that no one that was important to me died unlike in lion king 2 when mufasa died. I'm still sadden by that. But these two movies are my favorite. I prefer the original first like all movies. But these 2 are great.

And usually it takes an environment at least a year to recover from a fire. It would be a perfect timing for her to die.
