SARDAR SAROVAR DAM was a visionary approach of Nehru and team of planning experts,its foundation was laid by Nehru on 5april 1961.World bank cleared the project on 1979,displacement and rehabilitation plan was planned,but it got environmental clearance in 1987 by Rajiv,then a series of Andolans,Movements opposing that Dam was started by Baba Amte,Satish Dhawan etc in 1988 and Medha Patkar also joined the bandwagon,one may mark who were opposed to the building of Dam.In Nov 1993,Sardar sarovar Narmada nigam Ltd having issue price of rs 3600 for maturity in Jan 2014 valued at rs111000 was floated as a Deep Discount bond. Due to financial positions,it was redeemed prematurely. In 2006 Dam was Commissioned.Now post 2014 ,Patels statue was ordered thru China by PM Modi govt.Dam was originally commissioned in 2006,only the statue and memorial which is categorically not a Dam ,was planned by Modi govt.He may be thinking about when a child of 12 years ,deepness of Dam ,may be outreachly comparable with highness of a statue.But the Utility and significance of a Dam remains
