@@r13hd22 Sorry @R13h D but you got your facts all mixed up. It is true that Andrea released this song back in 1995. But it didn't become a hit at all outside of Italy. Sarah was already a superstar in England and in Germany after the release of many many albums. She got invited to perform the song for the Boxing Championship in 1997: A QUESTION OF HONOUR. It became a continental success. She and her producer Frank Peterson were asked to produce a farewell song for Henrik Maske. Sarah decided that Con Te Partirò was the perfect song and she added to the lyrics TIME TO SAY GOODBYE. Frank and Sarah invited Andrea to record the song AT THEIR HAMBURG STUDIOS with THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA. The rest is history. Sarah AND Frank OWN the rights to TTSG. That is why Jason Derulo and Nicky Minaj asked Sarah and Frank for their permission to do their version. NOT ANDREA. And that is why Andrea CANNOT record TTSG without Sarah's and Frank's permission. He can do it JUST as Con Te Partirò without the Time To Say Goodbye part. BTW you can look up the information on this documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5S5cmN-p558Z7s Minute: 05:52 right up until the end.

Sarah Briightman was married to Andrew Lloyd Webber when he composed The Phantom of the Opera with her in mind. Andre Bocelli incredibly talented, what a great duo. I heard this the first time Dec 7, 1997. I remember it because my husband and I had just moved into a new home, and I was terribly sick with the flu. Not wanting to expose anyone else, I was in a separate room sleeping. When I suddenly awoke to the amazing sound of this performance. My sweet husband was watching this on PBS for the first time, and he quietly came into my dark room and turned it on for me to hear it! It was the most amazing thing I had ever heard, and it felt like I was in Heaven!

Did you know that his mother was encouraged to abort when she was pregnant with him - She had gone to the hospital with an appendicitis, if memory serves me, and the doctor said the baby would be born with some sort of disability. Although abortion was illegal in Italy at the time, the doctor encouraged her to abort her baby. She chose life and the world has been blessed with one of the most beautiful voices ever. I fell in love with Andrea Angel Bocelli's music when I heard this song. Yes, it is more than an "opera vibe", they are opera singers. Andrea is blind. There wasn't many years ago Andrea wasn't fluent in English. He puts so much emotion into his singing. I saw him in concert in Atlanta, GA and just before the show started, he got word that his father had just died, but he still performed, knowing that that is what his father would have wanted him to do. It was a very emotional show. These two sing very good together. You have to remember that of course Sarah's voice would go higher, as she is a soprano and Andrea is a tenor. You need to listen to some of his CD's; you will fall in love with his music.

@@andrewkelley434 interesting, i've never heard of this dude. checking out the genres he focuses on, i realise why i have never heard of him! i wonder if he has real control and clarity over the full range? cos that would be nuts. Dimash Kudaibergen has about 7 and his tone and support and control is mind blowing.

You're spot on! Sarah Brightman is an opera singer. She is in fact the original Christine Daae from Phantom of the Opera (Andrew Lloyd Webber's version).

I wouldn't say she is opera but rather classical crossover.

Sarah Brightman is a crossover artist. She started in a disco group Hot Gossip in (either) the late 70s or early 80s, i can't quite remember. She is a phenomenal artist. Andrea Bocelli is 1 of the greatest tenors ever.

You are wrong. In 1992 Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé sang the duet "Barcelona". kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2LJmoKAeb10Y6c This version of "Con te partirò" was written for the last fight of the German Boxer Henry Maske. On November 23, 1996, Bocelli and Brightman sang their duet for the opening and the end of the fight Henry Maske vs. Virgil Hill. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZpDZnaWAeJ6GsLM

Btw, this is Andre's song and I think it can have 2 meanings, as its actual title is "Con Te Partiro" --> "With You I Part", meaning either "I depart *with* you" or "I part from you" and the lyrics seem to support either point of view. 🙂 Either way, a romantic love song for beginning or ending a love story. 💕

Try the version with just him singing as well, it's gorgeous! I feel his voice was not showcased here as well since she sang most of the song and higher pitch often overpowers a lower pitch.
