I like the voices both equally but I like Keith Urban's message a little better for this song. With Keith's the message is about the regret and heartache over loosing someone he didn't realize he loved so much where as Sarah's version is more of the typical "you made a mistake and broke my heart and now look at what you've lost"
@tigerheart735 жыл бұрын
Izzy C I really like both versions of this song. I read Sarah's version a bit different. I read it as more of a broken girl coming to realize that the abuse isn't her fault. Keith's version is good, but I can tell that this is really Sarah's song.
@DrahkulKitty5 жыл бұрын
Casey Davis, agreed. This is definitely about abuse whether it be emotionally and/or physically. I’ve been there and Sarah speaks for me. “It took awhile for her to figure out that she could run. But when she did she was long gone.” Love that part.
@grandegordita83204 жыл бұрын
@countrygirl countrymusiclover eh he's got more talent than this chick. She's a decent writer but you can tell just 5 seconds in to listening to her voice why she didn't actually make a career for herself with her writing. In her defense its as much as how you look as how you sound so that hurt her too.

She has an amazing voice, and I love the song, but I really like the idea of it coming from a guy, as opposed to her. But all in all, I may like the original more than Keith Urban's (even though I Love his voice).
@TristanandIsolt10 жыл бұрын
I love this version. I love Keith's version. I love Cassadee's version best. I actually think it works best though if it is a male singing it and realizing he was that stupid boy. Bitter women writing songs about guys who done them wrong loses something.
@NatureFantasy89 жыл бұрын
Sarah Buxton is the one who originally wrote this song. She gave it to Keith to sing, but regardless the focus of the song is supposed to be on the song's message rather than the p.o.v. of the person singing it.
@TristanandIsolt8 жыл бұрын
+NatureFantasy8 I understand that Sarah can't help being female and she wrote a GREAT song. Still that POV does come across when it is being sang.
@xXxWhitexXxOnyxXx8 жыл бұрын
+TristanandIsolt I feel the exact opposite of this. When I hear it, I think of a woman finally coming to her senses and realizing that she doesn't need to be chained down to an abusive man. That's why music is beautiful. Everyone can interpret it differently, and nobody is ever wrong, because it has different meanings to different people.
@TristanandIsolt8 жыл бұрын
+xXxWhitexXxOnyxXx My favorite performance of this song is by Cassadee Pope so I'm not saying your take on it doesn't work. What I am saying is that when sang by a woman it is another bitter song by a woman about a man who did her wrong. When it is a guy singing it there isn't that aspect. It is a guy acknowledging how stupid he was.
@Hurricaneintheroom7 жыл бұрын
TristanandIsolt I've never taken a song to be sung by a woman who was bitter because of the way she was treated by an abusive now the way I look at it is totally different I see it from the perspective of perhaps a friend looking into somebody else's relationship and the bad in it and she's telling her friend your stupid boy for the way you treated her
@talkingdaisy9413 жыл бұрын
keith urban made it famous, but she wrote it and is the original singer... it's good either way but the only similarity is the lyrics. They each have their own style. So it's still amazing both ways:)
