I wish we could see programs like this under the new scoring system. This is a LOT better than what we see today, not to mention no one is even attempting the combinations that Sarah was landing anymore. An insanely mature free skate for a 15 yr old and loaded with lots of personality.

A lot were shocked at her Olympic Gold but I wasn't. She was quietly getting better all the time and closing the gap on both Kwan and Slutskaya, and I could see her building to that moment. And her consistency and cool under pressure was always a huge asset.

Her technical score would be hammered under the new system. She has very poor jumping techniques Change of edge on lutz Hammer toe on lutz and flip Under rotation on almost all jumps

Perfect program! Perfect performance !!👏 I think if Sarah skated for Canada 🇨🇦 ,she could easily win the world title here!!

wow, at least 4 of those triples were underrotated. she would not have survived the new system. Neither would have Slutskaya who was always iffy on that 2nd 3 loop.

Heriberto Rivera Jr actually Skutskaya did very well in the new system. She won her 2nd world title under it.

@@jjh2456 politics are the only reason Irina did well in any system, she was a lot more built up as a powerful and competitive threat for any of the truth is she was a truck driver on ice Surya is leaps and bounds ahead of both Maria and Irina

Even this is by far and away better than what we are seeing today.

I would've put her in 2nd. She was actually better that Irina technically.

Not really... Irina landed the same triple triple - the triple salchow triple loop but Irina amped up the combination by adding a double toe in the end.. Also, she attempted another triple triple with the triple lutz triple loop (fell short) and another double toe. Irina had a technically tougher program but I would've put Sarah second BUT above Kwan who had a more simpler program but more polished and cleaner

I would've had Kwan 1st and Hughes 2nd. Sarah was known for her flutzing so there should be deductions for that. And Irina 3rd because the first triple lutz was quite shaky and then she under rotated and fell out the triple loop when she attempted the triple Lutz/triple loop combination. Michelle and Sarah skated without any mistakes. My only gripe was with Angela Nikodinov. If she skated cleanly, she would won bronze.

+Dan Actually, i would have Sarah in 2nd. Irinas performance was sloppy and all in the name of beating Michelle. Sarah embodied the music here.

both Irina's 3/3 combos were severely underrotated... they would be downgraded under the ISU scoring system. I would have had Irina 4th and Butyrskaya 3rd.

I haven't seen a lady attempt a triple salchow-triple loop combination in years. The only female even attempting a triple-triple combo with a loop on the end is Mao Asada. I love seeing her land that triple flip-triple loop combo. But the judges are always downgrading the triple loop. So now all the ladies are attempting triple lutz-triple toe combos. So sad....

A little iffy on the jumps but her artistry was incredibly mature for a 15-year-old!

If Ashley Wagner and Gracie Gold skate like that in Helsinki this year the USA will have 2 woman on the podium again!

Lauren Brown well that didn’t happen.... I think the Canadians rocked the Americans. Right?
@erivera49286 жыл бұрын
They would have been 9th and 10th...most of those jumps were under rotated
