My friend told me of his friend who died on her birthday after suffering from an allergic reaction to peanuts. On her birthday, they specifically asked the restaurant to make food that was nut free and not cooked with anything that had nuts. Apparently, one of the oils or something had nuts. She had an allergic reaction at the dinner table amongst her friends and died later at the hospital. These nut allergies are no joke.

Johns Hopkins has a program to desensitise people to life threatening allergies. I had bacterial endocarditis and the only drug I could be given was a form of penicillin. I have been extremely allergic to penicillin after nearly dying from it at age 9 in 1959. I was in a coma 2 weeks. Yet a Danish doctor from Johns Hopkins was able to treat me with penicillin for 7 weeks. I still had some reactions but not life threatening. After the 7 weeks I am still allergic to penicillin & carry epi-pens.

This is so important and a plan is necessary even when the person is grown up and away from the family home. (Out with friends etc.) perhaps more important because family is not there to support them and help in emergencies.

Sad that she only talks about living with it rather than finding the cause. If she hadn’t allowed peanut protein injected in her son from the first day of his life, she most likely would not have this current problem. Come on guys, when you super sensitise the immune system to a food protein that has bypassed the digestive system, surely you will understand how you can trigger anaphylaxis by then consuming the food. How was peanut oil injected their son? When and by whom? Come on Matthew, be a man and stand up and investigate this. You owe your son at least that much......
