Great video, thanks! Her pics reminded me of when I've been furniture shopping at the manufacturers. Everything is upholstered in off white canvas - very posh. I always think "so this is how the rich people shop". But it's so you can easily see the design lines and not be thrown by any particular upholstery fabric. It makes a LOT of sense, how many times have we tried to figure out what a pattern is doing but can't because of the fabric. Have a great day!

Great point! I must have said “we can look at the line drawings because I can’t really see what is going on with this pattern because of the print” like a thousand times in my Big 4 reviews. Lol.

I didn’t realize Sarah Kirsten did a redesign of the Fjällraven Kanken bag with the Raspberry rucksack. Love my Kanken. WithWendy also did a tutorial on how to make a dupe Kanken

OK. But, that name is still making me blush. Vine or not. LOL!

the second syllable is the accented one, and the a is long/hard - if you try it that way you will be far less embarrassed 😉

Finally - Sarah Kirsten is my style. I go for minimal and earthy style. I love natural fabrics and simplicity built on solid structure foundation pieces. THANKS!!! The reason I sew is to get these super simple low style basics. I love to sew linen and natural Cotten. I love how they they wear and wear. I have some linen clothes which have out lasted all my other close. YES I want more designs from her.

I love to sew clothes with luxurious natural fibers too. Even my sewing machine works more smoothly on natural fibers, lol.

I like her style. I was a teen through the hippie 70s and I would love to dress in this style in hippie colors and patterns and just be a hippie grandma just around the house. Especially if I lived in a cabin with her woods surrounding me.

All of these things - the top, the apron dress, the wrap skirts, the bags and backpacks - are crying out for Ikea's printed cotton fabric with the bold, artistic Scandinavian designs. (Or go for actual Marimekko if you can afford it!) I want to scream just thinking about that apron dress in an abstract, large-scale print!!! 😛 I. could. live. in. that. dress. I could live in all those things and not need much else. All the things are also crying out that I should buy each and every one of them. (Minimalism appeals to me, but so far it's not something that I've actually put into practice, lol.) I was impressed with the clever engineering and beautiful asthetic that went into the application of the straps to the backpack. Both backpacks - especially the mini - would also make great Christmas gifts. Thanks for another entertaining and informative video, Lindsey!

I’ve bought lots of Sara’s patterns and I love them! Her emails are excellent too, and she replies quickly to questions and comments via email. She’s a gem.

The apron dress could also make a beach wrap in a light terry. Another pattern company I might not have found without your intro. Thanks!

It was great to see such a different style of pattern company. I'm just starting and would not have understood how versatile these pattern are without your advice. I love the idea of a simple pattern that you can use your imagination with whilst learning clever ways to sew.

That's awesome that you're learning how to sew! The online sewing communities are so fun and helpful. Some of the people who started sewing blogs were just learning to sew at the same time I was. So I learned with and from them, and sometimes even communicated directly with them. All the online sewists could watch as they eventually became "famous". (Maybe you've heard of Mimi G and Oona Balloona?) There are more, but I don't recall their names at the moment. Lindsey is headed in this direction too. They're all fun, positive, helpful people who love sewing and sharing their experiences to inspire other people to sew. You might like to check out patternreview.com. People can post pics of their sewing projects and post their critiques of the pattern they used. You can look up any pattern before you buy it to see how it turned out for other people. This has definitely saved me from buying some real clunkers! In summary - welcome to the wonderful world of sewing!!

I love doing simple patterns between more difficult patterns. The simple ones are great for a quick gift for someone or just for me because “I have nothing to wear!” LOL!!! I am from the hippie era (in other words great-grand status) simply rocks for me. 😄

Had to get that apron dress. I totally agree. The patterns are "basic" but there is something there that elevates them to be better than like a generic t shirt or dress.

Thank you for showcasing indie companies. I don't think these designs are too simple (in fact, they're very lovely), but I do think there should be some examples of garments on less perfect bodies.
