I was 21 the same time this aired. I’d just had my first baby....as a single mother and with parents who wanted me to have an abortion. I grew up in a tiny village in the Scottish highlands where having a baby out of wedlock was still very much taboo. I got so much grief for years over it. When this was shown I felt such relief. It made me feel that I wasn’t the devil slut the folk here thought I was. I was 21 but up here we grow up learning to shag and drink at an early age because there wasn’t much to do. But I was a naive 21 too and I was terrified of having a baby. I had nobody to help me. Thankfully, I got married soon after to a wonderful guy who lived in the next village and we had two more kids. Still together and our kids have left home and are all happy. My own family are dead to me but I don’t care - they were horrible, selfish, nasty folk who cared more about the opinions of the local gossips and bible thumpers than they did their own child and grandchildren. Coronation Street helped me a lot with this story and how they developed it and I’m sure plenty other girls felt the same sense of not being alone.

Near enough. They replaced Sarah Platt when they started with the build up to the pregnancy storyline in 1999. And they replaced David just before Sarah give birth with the big storyline and him getting more scenes. I think they replace a lot of child actors when they are 9/10. Rosie Webster around the same time as David Sophie Webster in 2004.

Sarah deserved to be punished. I couldn't stomach watching this storyline because of the entitled way she acted. She was always going on about how she was "so smart" because she had a baby at 13 when in reality it just tells everyone how stupid she is. Plus she was always going on about how she should be allowed to make all the decisions in her life. Well, if I found out that my 13 year old daughter was pregnant I wouldn't let her make any big decisions for a while. I hate Sarah's spoiled ass. Always have, always will.

@Sonny Hood it is possible to be pregnant and not feel the baby moving as I was 7 month pregnant before I found out and didn’t know I was that far on until I went for my “12 week scan” thinking that rather than being 3 month I was nearly 5 month to be told that I only had 4 days before my due date & had only been feeling movement from my baby for about 6/7 weeks before having my baby
