Okay Sistas. I'm a 5 year vegan, and needless to say Ive done my fair-share of dabbling with tofu/tempeh. At first, I also thought (like Sez), that I couldn't eat it due to my stomach getting upset. However I figured out that the soy sauce (high sodium) that it was usually prepared with was what was actually upsetting me. Tofu and tempeh are now my STAPLES and I crave them when I don't have them on hand! I also feel that the way I prepare it is WAY better than anything I get at a store. Here are the two main ways that I suggest you try them if you are lost on how to prepare them or if you just want to try something new! 1. Cut tofu/tempeh into thin-er slices (ie flat rectangles). Spray a pan with oil (spray does a way better job of coating the tofu/tempeh evenly), and SALT the pan. Yes you read that right. By salting the pan you make sure salt gets cooked "in" with the tofu. Just trust me. When the pan heats up, place your tofu/temp on it and cook until golden. Then spray the side of the tofu/tempeh facing up with cooking spray (once again this ensures an even coating), and salt the tops. Flip and cook. You could stop there, but to really elevate it, take FRESH lemon juice, turn the heat down a bit, and pour it all over the tofu/tempeh. Now this step is critical. You want the lemon juice to "caramelize" the tofu/tempeh, so cook for a few seconds on one side, then flip them all over to ensure both sides get that nice caramelization. This method reminds me of mandarine chicken you could get at a Chinese restaurant. 2. Using the same method above, cut the tofu/tempeh, spray a pan (do not salt the pan this time), cook, spray the other side (once again, no salt), and flip and cook. Once you have done this, you are going to do the same "caramelization" method as described above but with COCONUT AMINOS. Omg. SO GOOD. Pour some coco aminos in the pan, caramelize one side, flip, caramelize the other. I don't add extra salt to this method because coconut aminos themselves are pretty salty. I have now blessed you with two amazing ways to cook tofu and tempeh. Try them out! :)

Very true. The myth of soy affecting women's hormones came from a very old study conducted with rats. Since then, it has been proven that humans do not metabolize soy like rats. It's a very healty source of protein for both men and women (as long as it's GMO free or organic).

Don’t ever worry about the videos being “too long” because I could watch your vlogs for days on end. I really appreciate how real you keep it on your channel and make us all feel better by showing that you struggle with the same things everyone struggles with. Also, now that you have this beautiful kitchen, you absolutely need a Vitamix AND a Kitchenaid stand mixer (in pink or maybe copper). Sorry for the long and all-over-the-place comment, but as you say in your videos, I feel like we’re friends haha. Have a great day, girl! Can’t wait for the next vlog!!

I’ve been eating tofu scramble for YEARS and I guarantee you- this is the best recipe (and my own 👌) 1) crumble tofu in a bowl 2) add turmeric and nutritional yeast until it’s ‘yellow’ 2) add a few shakes of garlic powder, salt and pepper 3) cook for a few minutes in a pan using vegetable stock (not oil or water!!!- tastes so much better this way) 4) serve with spinkled sumac on top (I also mix in shredded zucchini that I cook in the microwave for 2 minutes)

woo you are the EXACT SAME height as me! which im soo super happy about! cause i always thought you were taller than me and im always curious about what height/weight you are and how many calories you eat, cause your body is totally goals to me! 😍😍 but now i know we are the same height it seems a bit more realistic! ofcourse every one is different and obviously every person needs a different amount of calories and every body will look different! but to a certain extent it can give me a little bit of guidance as to what i can do and eat etc. obviously i know my body will never look the exact same as yours ofcourse! tbh id be over the moon if i could ever look half as good 😂😅 ive been in to the fitness lifestyle for just 2 years now and i really have come a long way i was really underweight and have gained weight and muscle but i feel like ive been in a bit of a plateau for a while so watching your videos and hearing your advice and seeing what you do at the gym really helps and inspires me and gives me ideas on how to switch up my workout cause i think a lot of the time i get stuck in the same routine and get bored! so thank you i love you! 😊💕

I stress SO MUCH when I get to 2000 calories lol and here you are stopping tracking at 2pm at 2200 calories LOL!!!! I used to under eat and my PT asked me to eat at least 1800 calories and be always between 1800 and 2000 and I find that since I eat more I have lost weight more easy and my body composition has changed also. I think women tend to be obsessed about eating too little and that drives us into starvation mode!!! I remember when my GP use to recommend a 1200 calories diet and looking back now it seems BARBARIC!!!

Hey Sezzy! Just wondering if you’re familiar with ‘food combining principles’ and what your thoughts on them are?! When you were talking about digestion starts in the mouth and drinking the water while eating made me wonder if you’ve ever heard about them before.. ?! one of the ‘rules’ are not to drink water whilst eating... I’ve noticed a big difference in my digestion if I avoid drinking water during eating. I have warm ACV + water before a meal instead. Love all your vids!!! Keep up the amazing work girl!! When I eat 2200 calories for an entire DAY I gain weight. I’m 163cm. But I did a Weight Management DNA test (kit available at Chemist Warehouse for $49.95). Results showed I pretty much have all the worst genes for digesting fat in food whether it’s natural or processed fats. The results said my body can’t process fats well and I shouldn’t have more than 20 grams per day (otherwise it’ll turn into fat in my arteries and on my body) and to lose weight I shouldn’t have more than 1300 calories per day- which explains my life long struggles with being overweight despite slimmer friends eating more and moving less. It also explains the early sudden cardiac death in my family. I simmer my onions and garlic and vegies in broth instead of coconut oil now and I can’t eat half an avocado in one sitting.. stuff like that. Extremely hard to stick to. The only way I ever lose any weight is by strict calorie counting which sucks and triggers me to rebel. Each person’s body is different. It’s important for everyone to remember that.

Lemon and ginger tea is a lifesaver around that time of the month with cramps. Give EPO (evening primrose oil) a try, it reduces the intensity of PMS symptoms :)

I don't know if I believe you've already eating 2200 calories by 2pm. All your 'what I eat in a day's' starts with a smoothie (ice+powders) or salads or avo on toast. Your lunch is a tuna salad. That's not even 1000 calories. I feel like your not always honest about it Sarah. Maybe you should give us an updated what I eat in a day :)

@AureliaLikesWaffles
@AureliaLikesWaffles 6 жыл бұрын
why would you not count those
@tz6100
@tz6100 6 жыл бұрын
aurelia pal because fruits and veggies are absorbed incredibly quickly by your body, plus, most of them USE more calories to digest than what they contain (which are foods with "negative" calories). You also cannot survive on 1000 calories of only fruits and veggies, because it is not sustainable, since like i mentionned, they go thru your body so quickly, the energy they procure only last a short period of time, compared to like oatmeal

I have that scale and it doesn't actually show fluctuation of water weight in the water weight section. Instead everything gets added or subtracted from the fat %. So within the span of 24 hours I could 'gain' or 'lose' 2% body fat. It's an OK scale to give you a rough idea on where you stand but it won't actually be showing accurately your body metrics every time.

Every girl holds onto water during their period. You could have one chip and stay bloated for 5 days. Oooph gotta hate that time of month.
@rachkate76
@rachkate76 6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't happen much on keto because you don't have carbs attached to water. I've been on keto almost a year and get almost no period pains or bloating despite having it for decades.
@kgal1298
@kgal1298 6 жыл бұрын
But it's salt that does it and your body still needs salt to function regularly. I guess it wouldn't do it on keto as long as you don't do any added salt, though salt is also found in meat so to avoid it I'm guessing you'd have to not eat much eat.
@ndoina_
@ndoina_ 6 жыл бұрын
Kate actually on Keto, you’re recommended to eat more salt than you normally would
@rachkate76
@rachkate76 6 жыл бұрын
Kate Actually, no, salt, like all electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium and to a lesser degree calcium and chloride, are vital on keto because you don't retain as much water, so they get flushed out easily. Salt and potassium work like a pump in the body and sodium isn't responsible for water weight during periods because if that were the case, millions of people on keto would be like the Michelin Man for a week every month and we're not- we're the complete opposite. The demonization of salt and also fats (while hero worship of sugars- natural fructose and HFCS in everything) are a fallacy since being debunked by several medical professionals like Professor Tim Noakes, Dr Jason Fung and Thomas Delauer just to name a couple. There are many videos on the basics of keto here on YT.
@kgal1298
@kgal1298 6 жыл бұрын
Rach Kate but I feel like you’re missing the fact that not everyone’s body reacts the same to what they eat. This is also an issue in the vegan community. People look at the science of a few studies but those studies are normally paid for by people who have something to gain from them. Keto does work for some people but not all. As well bloating during your period has to do with estrogen and progesterone which have been shown to make you retain more water and salt during that time of month so really regardless of what you eat unless your body is superhuman you’ll most likely bloat at some point during your period and I’m sure people on keto do bloat too during that time of the month or my friend was bitching about a fake thing a few weeks back. I take comments on diets like a grain of salt I’d rather do my own research having witnessed how different diets effect different people first hand.

Uhh if I ate that I would gain soooo much weight. I can’t lose unless I eat like 1200.. trust me I’ve done everything and I eat very clean (very similar to sezzy) and work out hard but when I was eating 1800 I was slowly gaining , even working out intense. So my maintenance is around 1500 and losing about 1200. You must have an incredible metabolism but I want ladies to know not everyone is like that.. and that’s ok.. you really do have to do what works for your body and not everyone can eat like that and look like Sarah

Hannie's Life I used to have anorexia/am recovered and I had been eating less than 500 calories a day. Now I would lose weight if i ate 1800, and I eat over 2000 calories everyday. I think it is an idea of 'healing' your metabolism, as it will gradually adjust (as it seems you have been eating very little for a while your metabolism will be lower anyway) and there are methods of increasing the amount you burn at rest by increasing by a certain amount every couple of weeks. I suggest doing some research into it, because you need to adequately fuel your body. Keep in mind I do work out, and take rest days if I am tired or sick, but I am the leanest I have ever been.

siljthor the only reason I don’t think that is because I worked out regularly and have for years.. so I wouldn’t all of a sudden gain. Maybe I wasn’t consistent or patient enough. I don’t like tracking everything I eat everyday but maybe that would help to make sure I am being honesty with myself!

I used to be 'that girl that can eat anything and not gain a pound' But after I had my son I was stuck in a rut at 171 lbs at 5'4 for almost 2 years, at times I felt like I wasn't even eating anything at all and I was still gaining weight. I thought I was just meant to be like that forever 😕 Little did I know I just had to bring my hormones back down and balanced because, after having my son, my hormones were all over the place. And just by doing that my metabolism kicked in again and I got down to 138 lbs. I then started to incorporate weight lifting and balanced healthier meals. I'm now at 123 lbs with muscle and I eat about 2,300 calories a day and have a body I never even had in my teenage years, although I do agree with what you said. I also am a firm believer in getting your hormones checked if you are someone who feels like theyve done everything they can in their health and fitness and dont have the results they want/feel like they must starve to lose weight

Use a brá under your top it helps. I always use a brá under my tops because I have naturally big ones and I need the extra support but when I don't use the brá they hurt. So that might help you on those days =) Now for big chest girls a TIP that I just found out and I tried yesterday it a running top for pregnant/nursing women, I know it's weird and I bought it in the SALE just to try because it was the first sport top that said HIGH SUPPORT and I never saw (even NIKE) being more than medium, so I had to buy it and for 3.99€ why not. It's amazing they didn't budge =D
