Ribot's phrasing in this, his use of pentatonic is reminiscent of the way Zappa phrased things. Brilliantly inventive and expresive guitar work, love the moodiness of this composition also. thx for sharing Sarah :)

@mohomoho1 I guess I'm not racist enough to care what color his musicians are. :-/ Whatever. I don't expect or want everyone to like the same music as me. 99% of the population would say there is better music out there than this. I would respectfully suggest that your time would best be used by listening to the music you love, and not posting negative comments on youtube about music you don't appreciate.

I'm not so sure a lot of black musicians are interested in playing this style of music. And the one's that are--like Henry Threadgill; Oliver Lake; Sam Rivers; James Blood; Jamaaldadeen Tacumeh; Vernon Reid are all band leaders in their own right.

maybe because this is klezmerish and klezmer tends to be the music of jewish people, and we don't have that many black jews do we?

Apart for the question about the skin of the musician (it's a ridiculous question, what about the thousand of rock bands whitout a black musician?) i think this is too old music. I've heard a lot of this in the 70's. And "Dark magus" or "Pangaea" are more interesting than this stuff. Doon't trust a man whit too much nerd t-shirts
