Life moves by faster than is fair. I only just now saw that he passed. Like so many others, when I heard him play I always thought “THAT’s the sound I want.” Once after a CSO concert I asked the staff if there was a place where I could meet the performers...and they led me to where the musicians normally exit. I was ASTONISHED that I was the only one there waiting. For me he was a superstar beyond all others...I thought, “how could there not be a huge line?” Mr. Clevenger was one of the last to leave and I called out to him; he came over to where I was and talked with me for quite some time...probably 15 minutes. He was so kind, interesting and engaging . I was able to get a picture with him too, and that photo (an actual developed photograph, funny enough) has always been one of my personal treasures. Just as we parted ways I thanked him for taking so much time to stop and chat...he responded simply “oh sure” in the most charming, unassuming and yet gracious way...as if he wasn’t anybody at all. The great Dale Clevenger.

What Dale says exactly 33 minutes & 33 seconds into this interview is THE moment. Don't miss it. Everything else I've ever loved hearing him say most over the years, always came through his bell... Ciao, mio amici di corni e di Dio, JC

+John Cerminaro : For further elucidation on Dale's subject concerning "the proof of heaven," there is now a distinctive and clear voice on the internet, also biblically sound, yet with simple eloquence in all he explains. His name is: Patrick Heron. Find him, on any such subject about heaven or God---you won't regret it. Ciao, mio amici di musici e di Dio, JC

When Solti conducts the cso the brass sound is quite different when Tennstedt (e.g.) conducted cso.
