Sarawak Adventures, Ep. 94 - In Search Of The Early Japanese Settlers of Kuching - Samarahan

his video traces the history of the early Japanese settlers in Kuching-Samarahan. The earliest settlers were believed to come in the 1880s and they were doing well until the Japanese Occupation brought devastating outcome resulting in many of them being repatriated back to Japan.

I believe the house at Jalan TUN Ahmad Zaidi Adruce next to the former Army Camp. I knew a guy by the name Jeffery Kumara driving his old WW2 US army jeep. Currently the house is use by Warisan Kek Lapis

Nice video. Are the place need permission to go inside? Last year 2022 i go there but i dont dare to pass the torii gate and go inside because that time there was no people at there. I just take a picture in front of the place.

Yes, there is no problem visiting it. The restoration done by the Rotary club had made it easier to visit the place, so it means visitors are welcome.
