What people don't know is that he didn't become the PM because he wasn't keeping well. He was 72 when india gained independence and the interim cabinet felt a new country needed a fit prime minister who could give stable governance. Sardar was part of that decision making... And sadly the same happened that was feared.. Sardar succumbed to old age in the year 1950, just 3 years after independence.
