In my opinion this unknown song is one of the best Aussie songs ever. I bought and adored the single in 1983, and it comes in at #170 on my top 1000 Songs of All Time, just pipping "White Rabbit", "Mr Tambourine Man" and "House of The Rising Sun". Ok, maybe I overrated it - then again, they're all masterpieces. I saw Sardine v live and it was the best concert I ever saw - not that they were the best band ever, but they were cooking, and we had the perfect spot to watch about 60 punters going mad on the dance floor, as we were sitting just above the crowd about ten metres back on scaffolding. However this was the only Rilen record I ever got. Didn't even find out until decades later he was in Rose Tattoo.

Rilen was a versatile talent.

Adore this! Saw them at the fabled Trade Union Club in Surry Hills back in the early 80s.

Don’t forget Johanna Pigott was also of the legendary XL Capris! 5 Reply Alan Strom XL Capris' album "Where is Hank?" is still in my album collection. Released in 1981at a very special time in my life. The album cover has a dog's kennel with a dog's collar without a dog. Hank the dog has escaped and they don't know where he is. Songs such as "World War 3" "Police Exhibit" and "Where is Hank?" It is a very quirky Post-Punk album, one of the best.

I have "Where is Hank?" too. I also have a Sardine V twelve-inch single with "I Hate You" on it.

This is gold! However and please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm very grateful for you posting this stuff as it is at risk of being permanently lost. What we need and this is probably a big ask is for all this stuff to be properly organised, catalogued, & as much details as possible. Ie where was it performed & who was in "Sardine v" at the time". I know a lot of this is either love jobs or put up by somebody in or associated with the Band {& that probably also is a love job} but if somebody could we need to get as much available on everything before its permanently lost. With each passing of another Band Member, this information gets more and more distant ,more and more likely to be unavailable. There are many great Bands that are far too important to just disappear forever as if they didn't exist. "Sardine v" & " X", are far too important, somehow we need to preserve as much as possible about them, preferably everything. I know it's a tall ask but anybody? We need to know more about Ian Rilen. Also anything about Stephanie Rilen {aka Stephanie Falconer}. Also Ian Krahe, Steve Lucas, Cathy Green, Cath Synnerdahl. Geez that confusing, 2x Cathy's both Drummers. When did Cath take over from Cathy? Did Cathy Green also play Base? Also every other Band member i haven't listed both on KZbin & Wikipedia. I am very grateful for everything that has been posted because I can imagine how rare stuff like this Video is, & how close to being permanently lost but this & what is available is so little of very important Australian Bands, & Australian History. Please anyone, I would be very greatful & i know others would be too, if someone, anybody can help document, preserve etc this very importance period of Australian Culture. In this case as much as possible on "X", & "Sardine v", individual members & associated Bands. I reiterate, we can't lose this important part of Australian Culture. Thank you, Gavin.
