We spent one week bike touring Sardinia from Cagliari to Porto Torres, and the island quickly became one of our favorite places we've bicycle toured in Europe. The combination of low traffic gravel roads, great wild camping, stunning scenery, and fascinating archaeological sites made Sardinia an ideal cycling destination.

It seems the perfect place for bike touring. It's funny because with your helmets and hats you both make me think of impressionist painters lost in the landscapes, looking for a nice place to paint :-) You're the impressionist bikers! And the music confirms it :-)

what an amazing trip you are both having...love the dinner ingredients when it is dark and you do not want to cook. Sardinia is amazing. I lived in Italy for two years and had a girlfriend in Sardinia and it was an amazing experience.

Great video of a lovely island. Mind you, if you enjoyed that, you would absolutely LOVE the west coast of Corsica! One week was a bit of an express run. You must be on a tight schedule. When we toured Sardinia we were not so keen to explore such tiny gravel back-tracks. We were there in May but had an unseasonal bout of rather bad weather with some days of gale-force NW winds. We faced some limitations in Sardinia on our itinerary as well and took the train from Cagliari to Macomer (east of Bosa), but we still spent two weeks on the island. A whole day in Cagliari, three days looping around the far SE corner, then that great road along the west coast to Alghero, but with horrendous headwinds. We spent two nights in Alghero with a boat cruise to Capo Caccia. Near Fertilia is one of the best, easy-to-access nuraghes, the Nuraghe Palmavera. We also travelled along the north coast via Castelsardo to Santa Teresa Gallura. I would love to get back there and explore some more; the island really does merit at least three-four weeks to do it justice.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather! But still sounds like you had an awesome trip. I think we got very lucky to have such clear skies in February. We would definitely like to visit Corsica in the future and also see more of Sardinia. Unfortunately with our Schengen visa time limit we have to make some hard choices about where to go and how long to stay.

Thanks for the inspiration. Just finished my ride on the east side of the island after coming down Corsica. I feel you on the "aggressive bushes" did some more off-road areas that were part of the trans sardinia and got a total of 6 flats, haha. Thank god I had tubeless.

Hi guys. I think you have your tour playlist in the wrong order. Currently the newest ones start at the top meaning if someone were to press the button to 'play all' it would play them from new to old telling the story in reverse. I just thought you might want to know and do a quick reorder.

Loved that noisy metal bridge crossing by Jenny at 7.25 minutes juxtaposed against the otherwise super chill-style background music and thanks for the pig farm warning - and if you don’t mind me asking how do you do your audio? I don’t see any microphones. Yours very truly the one and only RheinKing!
@RollingExistence
@RollingExistence 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks RheinKing!! We have a few different microphones depending on the conditions. If it's raining, we have to use the built in GoPro mic, which isn't great. Most of time time we shoot with the GoPro Media Mod + DIY dead cat. When it's super windy, we have a Rhode Lavalier lapel mic for talking to the camera. It's pretty small but we try to keep it somewhat hidden.

Sardinia reminded me many years ago when I was there touring in a whole different setup. I remember some of the towns in which you guys passed through. I notice that you both seem to have a good pace with your bikes do you have internal gears like an enclosed hub? They also look like gravel bikes. Great tours of Europe, cheers.

@@RollingExistence I must check that out. I just use my own music files, and as long as I am not monetising the YT video that is OK. YT credits the source. But a rights-free source without a $400 per annum fee would be a great thing.

Thanks for the video, been kinda binging your other ones as well! I was looking at a route north to south on Sardina and I was kind curious if you guys know of any buses/trains that go from Cagliari to Porto torres with a bike? Also, how often does the ferry run between Porto Torres and Barcelona? Cheers!
@RollingExistence
@RollingExistence 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you're enjoying the videos! We didn't look into buses, but being the two major ports I'm sure there are some options. The only ferry company that goes from PT to Barcelona is Grimaldi Lines, and they do the crossing once a week. That was in February, so they might do it more frequently in high season.
