What is also sad is that "Red" was Kieslowski's last film. Not only because he died in 1996, but because he didn't want to make any more films after Red. But his films before the trilogy, the ones made in Poland, are all really great. I also love "A Short Film About Love", for example.

i think pixar strategically waits 10 years for their sequels now so all the 8-11 year olds that grew up with said movie are young adults with money to go to the theater on nostalgia

Regarding AI in film preservation, I have a friend that works in that industry. I've been told that BFI use AI to 'clean' film scans of dirt and debris as it's quicker and easier to fix the AIs mistakes than it is to go through and clean each frame pre-scan. There is also the risk cleaning poses to the original physical copy its self. AI/digital software is already being used in the field to good effect. There are debates as to is upscaling is necessary. 16mm film is very roughly equivalent to 2K. The detail of a higher scan may not perceivable depending on the fidelity of the source material. The issue isn't AI, the issue is people not realising you can't add further fidelity when it was never there to begin with.

The reason they all give higher to Red for "no apparent reason", is that it's that whoever remains watching the 3rd is usually a fan so they're very unlikely to not like it if they went through the first 2. All 3 films are great including the 2nd.

But if they said "last stop in yuma" instead of "the last stop in yuma", it'd be like saying "yuma is the last stop of our journey" instead of just meaning it's just the last stop in general for everyone in yuma which was the film's meaning for that.

1:17:10 on the topic of titles I hate when there’s a trilogy of titles that are inconsistent, where they do just a number, and then switch it up for the 3rd, like “Deadpool 2” then “Deadpool & Wolverine” or “How to Train Your Dragon 2” then “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” If the number happens once, then it has to happen the rest of the trilogy.

I hate movie titles that just spam impressive sounding words beginning with ‘r’. We don’t need any more revolutions, revelations or redemptions. The worst example is the American name of ‘The Raid’. No one gets redeemed in that movie. They just threw ‘redemption’ in there because they (erroneously) thought it sounded cool.
