I have a silly question - you are not blending large amounts of paint when blending the various colors. What do you use to make your paint last? I would have run out and needed to mix more of each color. Also your paint seems to go on smooth and spreads at the lightest touch...mine is thick and sticky (working with oils). Is there a trick? Thank you 😄👍

I think it’s a combination of the smooth linen panel, bristle brushes and linseed oil added to the paint. I am pressing down firmly to fill the tooth of the canvas at times and the stiff hog hair is good for pushing paint. If your paint feels too sticky and thick maybe it’s just a matter of using a couple more drops of medium to help things flow smoothly?

@@olddirtymasters I don't know if "Copal"(sp?) is the same as Linseed but that's what I have been using. Also I'm pretty sure all my brushes are synthetic. Thanks for replying!😄👍

Hi. Where do you get the images to print from if I may ask? I love doing/wanna do many SInger Sargent studies but have got images where colours seem wrong. Want to get original/best photo of them but don't know where to go.

It’s a struggle to find good images. I only found a good reproduction of this painting after finishing my copy. Searching Wikimedia and google arts and culture is often fruitful. Sometimes I’ll copy a painting I’m less enthusiastic about partly because the reproduction is so good. Sometimes I go to a museum and take my own photos and edit them right there until they closely resemble the original.
