In Pakistan official, semi official, and some organizations officers of Grade 20 and equivalent get entitled cars having green number plate. Govt/organizations pay for Petrol and driver pay and allowance. Family of the officer is entitled to use the car as per rule.

Can an official car be used for shopping? What's the purpose of log book? How can a child of DSP use his father's official car for going to gym/bank/store etc during duty hours? It's a clear misuse of authority and we should be ashamed of this behaviour as a nation rather than trying to justify it.

@@UltimateTravelors DSP is not Grade 20 or above. He is not entitled for a car. Vehicles given to police are for duty not for private work. I just wrote about entitled officers.

Mr Anchorperson: An honest officer cannot afford to buy his own car. He is therefore forced to use official car for his family. Only corrupt officers/ official can buy their own cars.

I remained in grade 21 for almost 16 years. Sometimes you are so tightly scheduled that it's not possible to pick up the kids from school during office hours. Sometimes you are posted at a place where there is no public transport or none to collect the kids from school. It depends on circumstances and your place of posting. Even if you don't want, you are forced to use official vehicles. We have the provision of 'private use' for which you later pay.

The provision is wrong. This is public tax payers money that you are spending . With due respect kindly correct your maths. A grade 21 officer should buy his own car and keep his own personal driver. Or his children should travel by public transport / taxi / riksha or by walk . Don't give lame excuses. If something is wrong then it's wrong.
